Our van's dead- meh- so we're looking at something less awful to chuck the bikes in the back of and use to sleep in when we're away. The mk3s are what we're looking at and we're interested in one with swivel seats just because it'll give more room to put crap on when we're parked up. I've read they're a PITA to actually use but once a weekend will be about it, once we're parked and set we're parked a set and they'll only get spun back round when we're leaving so the PITAness is isn't a problem. Did they come as standard or were they an option when they were bought new? Any mk3 owners on here with any love or horror stories to tell about them?
Ours came with them - not sure if they were standard or not.
We tried them once - a right pain to get to swivel as the steering wheel / handbrake / door etc all get in the way unless you get it just right in all directions (tilt, front to back, height etc).
not sure the base model had them and possibly not applicable not available on the automatic
gave up the auto to have them and as said above not as easy to turn as you would like but good for picnics in the rain and camping though found had to remove fuse that activated door lights as these quickly flattened battery if stationary and in and out a lot - you've been warned
Ta for the replies. Do the door lights stay on with the seats turned round, or can you not close the doors with the seats rotated?
Replace the old festoon bulbs with LEDs?

no  can shut doors with front seats rotated no problem just that if you are in and out a lot when parked up with footwell and door lights coming on for sometime after a door opened found would flatten battery
