looking for food recommendations city centre, maybe something a bit different. last time we went to a teppenyaki place which was good but could do with something slap centre of town.

staying at the malmaison 8) so extra points for being close to there (but prob not the brasserie as thats too easy)

Cafe 21 is near there and ok, however I was starving when I came out. Big plates small food doesn't work with us Geordies.

Orchid is a good Chinese restaurant on quayside halfway between arena and malmaison. Also Indians Sachins is excellent too and next to arena.

Went here the other day, cool little place and great food:

They sell English wine (and cider) as well which is actually quite nice.

odo is good for noodle based dishes, Blackfriars is good for traditional food, i think its the oldest eatery in Newcastle, Syfron is a good indian on the Quayside, I've Noosh is good not been but a few colleagues enjoyed it. Theres loads of chain type places to eat or if you oriental food head to Stowell St.

Cheers
Nick

The Cluny Pub has cracking food.

Go to The Free Trade for a quick pint.

Stateside is ok for burgers etc. on Pink Lane

Depends what you want.

Nice Persian at the end of Pink Lane.
