it all worked out excellently in the end - got a train at 8, got picked up at stockport, whisked to emmy's lovely house, set off on an awesome ride mixing nice tough climbs and descents with lovely scenery, went home, was fed and watered very generously, played with the dog, got a train home again a happy chap.

this is the last post i put on the original thread:

well i made it safe and sound with bike on train thanks to my diversion to euston to sort out ticket on fri.

had a cracking time, was chauffeur-driven from stockport station by dave and then had a brilliant day! my guides for the day were both excellent, well up on all the quality local routes, lots of rocky climbs and descents with some suitably steep ups and downs. both of them were very skilled and quickly made me realise that everyone who regularly rides around those parts can not only ride a bike properly but is also ridiculously fit. i have since re-evaluated my fitness levels!

on top of that, emmy's b&b is in an amazing location with testing (as i found out!) descent right to the front door and miles and miles of trails starting and finishing right outside. the perfect base for mtbing and excellent care was taken of me from start to finish, including super cake as a mid-ride lunch treat and a generous (dave-portion) feed at the end of the day. cool dog as well!

great stuff and thanks again to both the hosts of my last-minute excursion!

Mrs Flash, re Andy Muray

I wonder which aspect of the millionaire tennis player's character his current girlfiend was attracted to?

Hora, I'm scared now.... ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

STW Has been fun for a long time. There are occasional shifts in the tone and content as there are shifts in the contributors. Personally I'm with the majority who've had pretty positive experiences on here in many different ways. I like a bit of banter and a heated debate and am highly amused when folk bite, but would never knowingly truly upset or offend anyone, to the contrary, generally I'd be mortified if I thought I had. I certainly would not lambast a newbie, for asking that dopey question that newbies ask, yet again. Thats boorish and ignorant.

Regarding Kylie/A & A/Boobs and Bums. Blokes are programmed to be attracted to women, women are programmed to display to men. Thats how we get to procreate. Personally I have little or no time for the PC'ness, and would much prefer to be able to say to a woman, you look great and you've really brightened my day up, without it being insulting. If that were more possible, I'm pretty sure the world would be a happier place.

PS: No objection to women telling me that I look great either....... (that element has been a bit thin on the ground for some time sadly)

I like it, as a long term lurker I've escaped most of the p*ss taking - but like wot lots of people have said need to take things with a pinch of salt I reckon. Now I've got a password I may be able to remember I'm just wiating for the opportunity to share/provide advice. I might start stalking singletrackmind tho as I've realised he doesn't live far from me - but I'll watch c4 tonight first...

TS - bring it on - I can take it - I think!
There's enough of it in the office so a bit more on the internet's not going to do me any harm ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've met quite a lot of people from here in the last 6 months and they've all been lovely lovely people ๐Ÿ™‚
Big hugs all round.
Yes you can get a lot of nasty remarks on some threads and plenty of
I had one of those, it broke so they are all crap
or
I bought one so they must be fantastic
comments but sift thru it and there's some good info and chat around

As this thread has beeen slightly hijacked by A&A I'll say yes I find fit women attractive but I'm here for the bike related stuff not to perv (and they dont have to be naked for it to be perving), plenty of more specialised places for that, I just don't see the point really. It's like someone pointing out a woman in the street and going "phwoar bit of alright" etc...why do you feel the need to share? what do you expect me to say? marks out of 10? puh-lease.

Dez - just outside winchester - kingsworthy in fact.
singletrackmind was talking about IVB on c4 tonight so I (wrongly it turns out) assumed he was Alresford based.

Yeah, the brewery is in Alresford. We ride all over the place though. I'm sure you could join us! I think we're doing the army enduro this weekend.

I was sort of thinking...you don't have to open the thread do you, you can choose not to put your mouse on the text containing "A&A"...

or am I just being a numpty to$$er...???

who knows these days...

I can't remember the forum being any different - although I still don't post very much, I enjoy watching the banter from afar....

\carry on...
