Just caught the train into Paddington and about 15 miles from London I swear I saw th Flying Scotsman smoking away but static. Looked awesome. Are there any other big engines left that it might have been?

There are a surprising number of large steam locos that do charter work these days, 20 currently have mainline certificates with another six or so due in the next eighteen months.

Everyone was getting excited yesterday as this rather lovely looking thing was running on the East Lancs Railway. We had a stroll down to watch it chug past

Feeling suitably inspired, I drew this when I got home

It was refurbished down the road in Bury, so we saw it quite a bit. Tis indeed a beautiful thing

That makes me happy Rockhopper. Like the idea of more steam trains. My flat is near Weymouth station and we get a lot of steam excursion days there.

Union of South Africa is being withdrawn when its current boiler ticket expires and is going into the owners museum somewhere in the north of Scotland with no plans to run it again.
