Obviously I've noticed it advertises based on my browsing history, but I've just started a thread about further education and it's flashing up Uni's/courses etc.

Surely that's just co-incidence isn't it, or does it also latch onto the words you type into this site?

Ah, yes, that'll be the iOS that won't let you use Flash, even if you want to

POSTED 14 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

Cos they aren't advertising? And it follows the page (assumes all contributors have a common interest) rather than an individual's history. Then they have conversion ads - don't complete a transaction on one site and ads for it will appear as you continue to browse elsewhere. Some VERY complex things going on.

Ah, yes, that'll be the iOS that won't let you use Flash, even if you want to

That's because Flash is a bloated, poorly implemented app that sucks CPU cycles and causes a computer to run much harder than it needs to. There is still no proper mobile Flash that works without draining a devise's battery, so even if Apple allowed it, there was no way to view Flash until very recently. I believe FlashMob is still a Beta. All of the ads over there >>> run fine on my iPhone, because they aren't Flash, or at any rate if anyone is stupid enough to still produce ads for a website that openly pushes an iPad version of it's parent mag then they deserve to have their advert stay invisible. STW members have railed against Flash on here as long as I've been a member, seven years, and some have been banned for openly advocating ClickToFlash, or AdBlocker, since the site's revenue comes from that advertising. Smart advertisers have woken up to the fact that tens of millions of people are using iPhones and iPads to browse the 'net and designing for it. The iPad is coming up to a year old and Apple have already sold 14.5million. Flash is dying by degrees, get used to it.

And not being able to see flash ads on my phone is a bad thing why? ๐Ÿ™‚

Find me a site that does something actually useful with flash, that works properly on a phone with mobile flash, then I might start missing it.

Blades Player on the SUFC website requires the use of Flash.

Whether you see it's benefits or not, providing an OS that doesn't support it doesn't make sense.

Isn't Youtube based on Flash?

Blades Player on the SUFC website requires the use of Flash.

Wow, nicely obscure. Had a look, it redirects onto a mobile version of the site. I forced the Desktop Version and got to: http://www.sufc.co.uk/page/player/Home which is what I presume you mean?

Are they using Flash just for video? (If so then there isn't much reason they can't move to HTML5 and they probably will in the near future). Does it actually work properly on a flash-enabled phone?

providing an OS that doesn't support it doesn't make sense.

Partial support with frequent crashes and hang ups would go against the whole "it just works" Apple ethos, so it makes plenty of sense in the broader picture, despite the complaints.

Isn't Youtube based on Flash?

Nope. ๐Ÿ™‚ They've already moved to html5 video.(As have vimeo)

Works perfectly on the sites and with embedded YouTube/vimeo videos like the ones on here. No flash required.

Oh........

Got an iPhone or iPad? โ€“ Instructions
So you are a Premier Digital subscriber and have an iPhone/iPad then?
Hereโ€™s our guide to getting copies of Singletrack magazine conveniently stuffed into your pocket.

First of all everything starts in our Mag Archive. You can navigate there from the โ€˜Mag Archiveโ€™ button on our main menu above. Inside our Mag Archive you will see the covers of every copy of Singletrack weโ€™ve ever produced. As a Premier Digital subscriber you will also see โ€˜Readโ€™ and โ€˜Downloadโ€™ links if available on that issue.

If you click read that issue will open up in another browser window and you can read it right there in your desktop. Unfortunately since iPhones and iPads canโ€™t view Flash files, you canโ€™t use this link to read copies of Singletrack on your iPhone/iPad.

Ok, ok, so you just d/l a PDF - just making a point ๐Ÿ˜‰
