Why's there a swear filter on this forum [i]and [/i]would you like to be able to cuss if you felt your reply warranted it?
I don't know, and i would if allowed (not all the time obviously).

I think the most obvious reason would be some of the forum users are children and many of the users are parents. Quite a few are reading this at work and content that would stop the forum getting past any filtering employers do would leave this place a desert. Even the mods would have to get some work done.
I do cuss if the reply warrants it - it (almost always) is picked up by the filter. But in a ****ing sentence its always ****ing obvious what the filter is filtering you ****.

Randomly, that set of images perfectly clicked in sync with me Page Downing through the thread. Even now paging back up, it's absolutely pixel-perfect.
I don't mind the swear filter at all but I do mind that it turns five letter swears into 4 letters, like when I call everyone ****s. It's inelegant. I consider it racist against scottish people.

No its not - its the usual 4 swear filter asterisks . Scotroutes has just forgotten to add the footnote that the fifth asterix refers too (although theres still time to edit)
Presumably no one can read Mumsnet at work?
