What do I need to know ?

Permanent V Paper filter ?
Metal V Glass carafe ?
Keep warm feature V hotplate ?
Programmable V simplicity ?

Any other business ?

Your recommendationings pleases

Not much faff there.

I don't follow the enclosed instructions.
I use hot water and heat on stove with lid open. When there's a steady stream of coffee pouring into the top section close lid, remove from heat and pour into cup when it splutters a little.

I put water and coffee in and leave it on the lowest heat. When you smell the coffee/hear spluttering it's done. Good for camping too.

How do you want to use it? A timer is useful if you want coffee brewed for when you get up in the morning. Permafilter is less waste and less things to remember to buy. Hotplate seems to do an OK job and is cheaper than the flask jugs. Just buy a cheap one that does what you want.

For the heathens up there - filter coffee is a different brew to a stove top. Horses for courses - he wants XC not 4X.
