I accidently formatted a compact flash card at the weekend in a camera. I downloaded some trial software which showed me that the pictures are still on the card (its not been reused), but it then wanted £50 to actually retrieve them, (and they aren't that important, but it would be nice to have them if possible).
I'm hoping I can find the Sandisk recovery software that came with a card, but if not any suggestions for decent cheap or free recovery software?
Thanks
I've used Zero Assumption Recovery before on SD Cards. It works and is free...

Thanks both, they look good.
I've never used it myself, but I've had Recuva highly recommended in the past.
Had to use Recuva this morning to rescue some files accidentally deleted by a colleague, managed to get about 90% of them back.
Recuva did the job - thanks a lot.
Currently trying Sandisk RecoveRx on a card that someone accidentally did a format on, so far it's found some files, but it's going to take about 20hours (64gb CF card via USB3, the time limiting factor is presumably the processor as it's only going at about 1.6Mb/s)
