Why not? I suppose the main reason is getting a useable amount of meat from one,

There’s a great line in the French classic “Larousse Gastronomique” - under the entry for “Rat”, it says they were “elevated to the rank of comestible” during the siege of Paris (1870). I always wondered how pleased they must have been.

Well, there’s always whale meat, the Norwegians, Icelanders and Japanese will be happy to sell it to you...

“Larousse Gastronomique”

My big sis bought me a copy of this for my birthday many years ago and added an inscription - "now will you learn to make scrambled egg properly". It's a great book but not the best for domestic use.
