Got to be the early pure shape before they started sticking spoilers and ducts on.

Does that comment go with the photo above or below it? 😯

A mate of mine had an A35 with a few midget bits in the rear suspension and brakes. Oh, and a 1275 motor. It was 'interesting' , mostly in a good way

I had a 1983 Xr3i which was amazing when I was in my late teens but I never could get the RS and would have loved one!

Thats not a DC2, THIS is a DC2:

Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure it is a DC2 a uk spec one at that, they came with the round headlights unlike the imported ones which came with the rectangular lights

My old S2.

Awesome!

My dad was a car mechanic, one of the lads where he worked had one in the garage; a white one. Absolute beauty - dream car when I was about twelve years old! Think he ended up crashing it and killing himself and his mate though.....

Another goodun

I had one. Great when it was working, but a general PITA.

I reckon if you restored one you could iron out all the kinks and have a very rewarding car to own.

I have this which I really like:

But would also love something even less sensible, like this:

or this:

My mum had one of these when I was a kid and after the previous cars (Allegro, Maxi and a Hillman Imp) it was so exotic (although ours had normal mirrors)

I'd love to get one and have it reconditioned if cash was no object

I'm loving all of the Intregales - I really like them.

I used to have one of these - exactly the same but RHD - and would have one again in a heartbeat. Would prefer a VTEC version though.

[img] [/img]

Also a big fan of RS200s as seen earlier in the thread. I had a passenger lap around Knockhill in one that looked the same as this. Felt awesome, but I was suprised how noisy the transmission was when it was idling.

[img] [/img]

Amazingly nasty red seat belts and Sierra steering wheel too!

saw one of those Alfas on the m-way the other month - unbelievably ugly - like a scimitar gone wrong. bit of a shock.

ANY 60's or 70's Toyota or Datsun.

Keep your 'ooo look its a 911' or 'must been seen to like a mk1 Golf'.

The Skyline, Celica's etc (even Crowns etc) of that era were stunning.

Some really cool cars in this thread, I've even owned a few of them and driven a few more.

The E30 M3 (the first square one for haters of "code words" was the coolest car in the world when I was a kid - but I always liked the Mercedes 190e 16v "Cosworth" (that's the W201 shape for code word fans) especially the Evo models - I sure one once parked by my house, bat-shit wing on the back (too big to be a mere spoiler) big arches and bigger wheels in an age when 16" wheels looked huge.

I can't copy the url to post a pick so you'll have to google if you don't know what I mean.

I also saw a Countach once! But it sounded and looked like shit so I expect it was a home brew kit car.

fell in love with these many years ago when I first saw them at Oulton Park.
[img] [/img]
These were quite popular and hit a spot with me back in those days too. They looked like fun hammering around the lanes of Little Budworth.
[img] [/img]

So much so that I bought one of these when I was younger for a bit of wind in the hair action.

I was given one of these as a teenager. It used to belong to a canadian ice hockey player, whose team was sponsored by my grandparents' company.

[img] [/img]

It didn't start, didnt have a logbook and I was too young to drive it. The back was massive and very plush. It probably drove like a pig. Ended up getting sold when I moved overseas. I've always regretted losing that and I'd love to get another. For that reason, it's my favourite.

As most will know cos I do go about it a fair bit, this was mine and still remains a dream car for me (life and kids and new houses got in the way of me owning ridiculous cars for a while...):
[img] [/img]

For unobtainable older car, it has to be this:

and this:
[img] [/img]

Obtainable-ish, maybe, one day...

Amazingly nasty red seat belts and Sierra steering wheel too!

The doors, bulkhead and central floor were directly from a Sierra so not surprising.

On a Group B theme always wanted one of these:

[img] [/img]

purely for being able to say 'I own a Metro' to then see the person's face when they see it 😆

Was offered a non-running one back in the early '00's (needed a new front end and a rear axle) but I was financially tied up rebuilding my Rover SD1 V8 so passed on it. That exact 6R4 is now worth a few quid!

I owned one of these back in 2001 ish. Had to sell it to fund a business start up and with hindsight, should have kept the car!

Mine - always wanted one, bought one. Just had a back-to-bare-metal, windows-out respray. It's honestly the car I'd have bought if I'd won the lottery along with a Singer Porsche 911 of some sort and a Mk2 GTi and, oddly, a Volvo Amazon.

hey, I happen to like Mk I / II Golfs (partly as a a mate had a Mk I, and then a Mk II which I bought off him) and 911s, among others. Is that so bad hora ? :0)

In part its driven by what you aspired (or coveted) when growing up or a bit older, or a pleasure in individual design and interior (hence the Saabs and Citroens I think).

I always return, too, to cars like the Alvis TF21 my uncle lent us for our wedding -one like this (in burgundy)

Take the badges off and it was a very usefull sleeper. Nobody knew what was it was then let alone now, would need a supply of gearboxes and a spare supercharger though.

I had one of these a silver over grey face lift. By far the best car I've ever owned or driven. Wish I still had it. Had to get rid when my better half became pregnant. They go for silly money now if you can find a good one.

Wow, that Alvis is stunning. My Dad once restored an Alvis, with the help of my future mother - starting to see how that kindled romance!

I used to have Armstrong Siddeleys. Can't find the pic of my Hurricane, so here's my Whitley.

my mum had one of these but got rid shortly before I was 17

[img] [/img]

She had a 1.6 escort cabriolet - which I promptly crashed by reversing into my girlfriends car and writing that off!

Would love a good condition one of these now - didn't really like it at the time

G40's were so much fun to drive apart from the brakes, **** me the whole mk2-3 Polo range had the worst brakes I've ever experienced. Woefully under assisted and desperately in need of a bigger servo, master cylinder and golf rear hub swap 😉

Love driving supercharged cars so much nicer than turbo charged.

All ridiculously unobtainable and likely to burst into flames, anyway these for me:
