@tallpaul

Totally agree. There is nothing brave or principled here. Just middle management gambling on a new boss.

We truly get the politicians we deserve.

To be fair on the empire lot Martin, resuming attacks on French and Spanish shipping would probably be a better negotiating tactic than what we’ve been up to so far

Bad news, Sir Francis Drake is unavailable to lead Brexit negotiations due to 'family reasons'.

Anyone who wants to join a foray to Cadiz should assemble in Plymouth tomorrow at 8am. Bring your own petrol bombs.

So it’s going to be a no deal brexit with a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic.  Either that or another referendum. I can’t see any other real alternatives.

Rumours that Penny Mourdant is next.

Andrea Leadsome and Chris Grayling will consider their position once they have finished reading the draft agreement.

It might take a while though as they need to find someone to explain some of the bigger words

Raab is a ****. He knew what the job was when he agreed to be Brexit Secretary, he knew what every word of the 585 pages said (although i suspect he doesn't understand what some of those words mean).

IMO, to quit now is a gross dereliction of duty. He may dress it up behind a faux ideology (as they all do), but it's nothing more than a calculated self-serving maneuver.

Do they still shoot soldiers for abandoning their post? Cowardice in the face of the enemy! Don't the Gammons still think that way? It's odd how perceptions differ. He's probably a hero to the arch-leavers, I just think he's pathetic.

I've deliberately avoided this thread, and Brexit news in general, but, as I understand it right now we're stuffed aren't we? WTO deal is out due to Russia, Canada++ is off due to Ireland, Chequers is off due to The Government, Remain is off due to gammon.

So we options are, upset the gammon and Remain or become the only country in the world without a trading deal with anyone? And remind me why is this decision is so hard?

Related, don't get me started on not delivering the Brexit we voted for, we voted to leave, nothing more and nothing less...

Can someone remind me what the DUP actually want to happen with their border with the Republic and the one with the rest of the UK?

The DUP don't want a united Ireland - a border inside the UK increases the chance of that. However, a no deal also increases the chance of a united Ireland.

So they are playing a zero sum game.

The best solution now would be for the sensible MPs from all parties to come together and form a temporary government. Put the question to the electorate, this deal, if not then pick between no deal brexit or remain.

I just don't know if there are enough there to put party and individual opportunities aside and do what's best for everyone.

The DUP won’t tell anyone what they want, only what they don’t want. Never have I been more reminded of Ian Paisley’s comments about the Anglo Irish agreement. “Ulster Says No” to everything.

Best realistic case would be for the current government to say "right, we're stuffed here, we're putting this on hold for 12 months whilst we work out what the heck is happening". Gammon may be upset but at least there's an end date for them to aim at. But that requires conviction and drive from someone and I'm not sure May has that in the locker.

yeah, we're stuffed. We're heading towards crashing out with no-deal.

May has been trying to negotiate the impossible and it hasn't worked.

Reality will never dawn on most of the people that voted leave.

If we get a clean break "no deal" Brexit and the UK implodes and everythigs terriible, it'll just be because of Remoaners, or the evil EU, or Soros or something, not because Brexit was a bad idea.

I guess that's the conclusion I'd come to.
Similar to most Brexiteers to be honest. What I don't understand is whether they really want to exit or whether it's just posturing. Surely not backing this deal makes exiting less likely.

problem is that to convince the Gammon of her Brexiter credentials She & Davis triggered A50 straight away

the clock is running down

I completely despair. The worst thing is that the majority of people who voted leave are not switched on enough to understand the gravity of the situation that they have forced upon us.

No sympathy for May at all. When she was home secretary, she "lost" vital documents for the legal case against some Lords and politicians implicated in large peadophilia case. I still think that is the reason why she is PM now, she was given the big chair for protecting her establishment colleagues. But now the knives are out and I hope she suffers for it. She deserves everything bad coming her way.

Schrodinger's Brexit just keeps on giving. And yes, I did read the report last night. Medicines, nothing unexpected. Aviation errrr nothing at all. Will the planes be flying?

History always reflects rather well on people given an impossible task, particularly against their better judgement. Raab is finished. As mentioned, cowadice.

Open derision and mockery of the PM in the house now. Her voice is wavering like she is about to cry, she is visibly shaken.

She's done, I expect her to resign tonight.

In Parliament May said "voting against would take up back to square one."

That is the best news I have heard around this whole mess. Square one is good. Crack on.

I think she is answering these difficult questions honestly and with conviction. Far from wavering at the moment.
