About 10 times per session, that's how many. On my phone and PC's. Anyone else?

Only the once so far this evening, when I first opened the forum. That may change, of course.

Yer butt, do you really accept it .?

Well no, not really, but needs must.

Every time I've visited today - admittedly, on 2 different laptops

Probably around 6 times today, perhaps but I think several of those were because I opened new stories in multiple tabs...

Should be once per device.  Multiple tabs may equate to multiple requests.

It’s even more annoying if you run multiple log ins on multiple devices with IP spoofing and ghosting

Cambridge analytica have probably had to accept it 200+ times at least

Multiple accounts are against the T&Cs.  If you'd care to forward me details I'll have those deleted for you.

It's a bit like the random log out, log in. Let's call it a feature?

a bit like the autocorrect feature.

Let’s call it an undocumented feature?

A la Microsoft many moons ago.

Ah, but the user T&C's are different.

You did read our terms and checked the right boxes when you signed us all up, didn't you?

Every time you get the fake Microsoft page hijacking your STW forum window and telling you that your PC is infected with 3+ viruses. 😉

Once on my home PC, once on my home tablet, every time I go back to the main forum screen on my work laptop. Getting a bit annoying.

Every flipping time I go to the main forum page.

Another feature that has been well designed and tested.

I suspect it's about browser behaviour and cookies as much as anything that stw have done.

The same number of times as every other site which has updated it's privacy policy one would hope.  Or are we once again into STW is "speshul" territory?

TBH no, but they won't be too onerous.

Hmm. Navigated around the forums and site for a few pages but haven't seen the privacy policy popup since I accepted it yesterday. Chrome on Ubuntu.

It's a cookie. It's just a cookie.

When you click the agree button the cookie is set on your device like any other cookie. If you are getting the popup repeatedly then for some reason the cookie isn't set on your device. This is why you have to accept it on all devices btw. It's device specific and it's now, as you will be aware, a legal requirement.

The cookie is called stw_privacy_policy and will be sat with all the other cookies on your device.

If your device is having problems with storing cookies then you will keep getting the popup as we must check you have given consent every time you request a page. You can remove your consent by removing the cookie, but then you'll get the popup and be asked to consent again.

We have a page here where you can clear out all your Singletrack cookies. I'd suggest for those having problems that clearing them all out and trying again 'might' solve your problems. If it doesn't then email tech@.. with your exact browser and device details and they will see if there's any advice we can give you.

Something we've just discussed.

Are you in Safari using private browsing?

If so your cookie will not be set.

Same for incognito mode in Chrome and the like.

If your device is having problems with storing cookies then

... you might be doing exactly the same as me, and clearing all cookies on browser exit.

This is an issue I had with the previous rules that came from clueless politicians that thought they'd be getting one up on the web industry.  The only realistic way is to always accept and always keep ALL cookies, just to make sure the one cookie per site is saved for the T+Cs and tracking preferences, and take the hit that all tracking cookies will be saved forever for all 3rd party ads etc.  Sod that. I want no tracking and bin practically everything I possibly can.

Least most websites have the legally enforced cookie law message at the top/bottom rather than a popover, and I just totally ignore it, because clicking accept on cookies is a waste of time when I'm going to bin them all anyway, except for those few I whitelist (STW is one I whitelist on most devices, but not work device).

What I see is exactly what I expect. One pop-over per device per cookie clearance, with 1 cookie set to remember for 1 year (that will then get deleted on exit on work browser, and possibly on Brave browser on phone).
