[Closed] Energy (electricity usage) monitors, which one, and have you got one?

A few years back, some energy companies were giving away OWL energy monitors. I should have got one then, but didn't. Is the OWL still worth having, or is there a better one. I'd like to see where it's all going.

(I have some clues, there are 9 lamps in the living room central fitting, and usually at least 3 pcs/laptops on the go from now until 10pm)

We got one.

It was like a sit com.

Me moaning at the kids every time they left a light or electrical device on. Them ignoring me.

My wife saying 'well that doesn't sound too much for a day's electricity?'.

I binned it.

I have a 1st Gen OWL. It did make me swap out a few bulbs and be more disciplined in turning things off eg kitchen lights, but after the first week or so the novelty wears off. Mine has stopped working, but I don't really care...

Was it provided free by an energy company? Have you changed supplier?
We got one when we signed up to SSE (I think). We used it, but when we swapped supplier it stopped working. When we checked the meter, they'd been round and taken off the sensor bit that goes round the feed into the house. I guess to stop the 'free gift' they provided from working once we stopped getting our energy from them. (unless a scrote nicked it).
