15yr old Mira sport has finally given up. Narrowed it down to the heating element, replacement part is around £90.
Given that its 15yrs old and showing its age, I'm tempted to replace it with another mira sport prices around £250ish any other brand model to look at?
Not sure how their electric showers come in on price, our Aqualisa has been good (it's a pumped one though..)
The Mira electric showers we have had have all been decent, things to consider if you decide to change the shower are.
Is the shower tiled all the way behind it? a new shower may not go exactly where the old one did.
Is the power of the new shower the same - may need to re cable with bigger wire.
Is the water inlet in the same place - shower may need to be located in a slightly different location to tie in with water.

Like for like 10.8kw with a huge wire similar to that of a overhead power line

The Mira fitting Pdf appears to be same connection.
You should be all good then, we had a pain in the arse of a time with a Mira advanced shower at my fiance's flat that we replaced with a newer model and it had to be located 75mm left of where the old one was pushing it within mm of the side wall. and left 2 screw holes that had to be filled in.
OP is the heating element broken or scaled up?
On our gainsborough shower the element scales up every 18mths or so and worked out that it's possible to removed that part for the shower unit and descale it with white vinegar.
Might be possible with yours and save some dosh?

Are you sure its not the thermal switch on top of the heating elements? Ours goes about every 18 months meaning it produces no hot water, they only cost about £15.
