At the Geneva show, Ferrari have unveiled a hybrid car with performance figures to better the model the car is based on.

So got me thinking .... If fuel economy is improved, speed bettered etc., why not use similar technology in the F1 car?

aren't all these high performance electric cars limited by the battery capacity?

It's a hybrid ..... and now I think about it, is this similar to the current Kurze (sp) system? He says realising they may already have it?

KERS - Kinetic Energy Recovery System

Not going to be used this year in F1 thought it's technically still allowed.

That Ferrari is using the technology Ferrari developped for their F1 car last year.

It's hardly a green car, it still has a 6ltr V12 in it and emits more than twice the CO2 of my daily 2 litre runaround. Though admittedly it's abotu the same as my 2litre fun car.

"Aims to cut fuel consumption and emissions" - what a crock. How about you put some energy into designing exciting exotic cars that don't have totally irrelevant 200mph+ performance? Something that is gorgeous and desirable and wonderful to drive at normal speeds could save a hell of a lot more fuel and emissions with just a much smaller engine! Use the technology to bring the weight down, use the marketing clout to revise expectations about what a performance car for public roads really means.

paint it green, bolt a duracel to the roof and instantly boost your green credentials.

Genius.

Nah, why should they? In comparison with a normal Ferarri it is more efficient, in comparison to a 1ltr super mini it's still a planet killer, if everyone was driving one it would be a problem, but only a handful of people can afford one and this wouldn't change if it was lighter and slower they would just sell a few less.

Performance anything is irrelevant in the real world and always has been. It's not there to be relevant or real worldy.
