I'm perhaps looking to go down the £5k 100k miles + 5 series estate diesel route.
Whats this thing about swirl flaps then?

I had mine replaced on my 320D but MrsMC's 320D has not and she's done 170,000. Both cars, incidentally, are on the original clutches but wishbones need doing at around 120,00. I'd go for it but try to get that 5k down a bit. Some people have the flaps removed altogether.

The cars I'm looking at are 08/09 so hopefully I can avoid the issue...
A mate had his disintegrate and needed an expensive rebuild on his 320. Sounds a common problem. Now has them removed. May well get ours removed when the mileage gets near the 100k mark.
