Selling a frame on ebay, (as none of you miserable lot wanted it ;-))

13 bids already and 70 watchers, ends tomorrow evening.

70 watchers is quite a lot isn't it? when I have sold stuff in the past, its only been 30 odd for popular items.

I imagine only 50% of the watchers will bid, but still surprised at the number of people watching the item.

Really depends on the item - I sold a Windcheetah trike last month and had over 400 watchers by the end. I've not noticed a big correlation between the number of watchers and the final price.

depends on the item +1

when I sold my '73 vw camper, I had over a thousand watchers, and only about 30 bids. People like to watch stuff they are interested in, or are dreaming about buying in the future.

...or have themselves and are wondering about selling, depending on how much its worth.

doubt it - it depends on the item, but rare/expensive or exotic stuff gets lots more watchers and generally less serious bidders.
eg. i bet there were 1000's of watchers on Sam Hills pink carbon demo frame - but not that many bidders in comparison.

Number of watchers I think is pretty meaningless.

I watch items I've no intention of buying just out of interest to see what price certain things are fetching.

Except that a healthy number of watchers indicates that you've listed it well, and it's reaching it's target audience. Agree that it is massively item specific though.
