Anything you can do about it, just had two people retract bids on the same item which is pretty annoying. They've stated they have entered the wrong amount, surely the point of eBay is once you bid it is binding and you are supposed to buy

Well, in answer to my own question, yes you can raise a dispute against a retracted bid as they should only be retracted in exceptional circumstances. Whether ebay do anything about it is another matter.

Amout of dicking about not sure I will bother in the future

Your never going to get the money out of them if they don't want whatever it is you are selling.

So what's the point ?

The point is, I suppose, that if they get three strikes against them (for dicking sellers about) they get shut down. So possibly worth reporting them. Except they're likely to come back with another ID.

I only ever buy on there these days.

I had a guy do this about 3 or 4 times on an auction, blatantly fishing for other bidders maximums. Kept putting the reason as wrong amount bid...4 times in a row?!

I blocked him from bidding on any of my items, bid retractors are just piss takers, avoid them.

Yep, people use it to find out other bidders max and are generally not playing by ebay's rules - as mentioned above, if you report them and they are investigated and found to have done it several times they are likely to get their accounts suspended.

This (hopefully) means they stop messing about genuine buyers and sellers. If you don't take the time to report them, they will just carry on.
