Up here for 3 nights. Where's good to eat? I know about Zefferellis, but where else is good. Not looking to spend a fortune but not wanting cheap'n'nasty either

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by expensive, but http://www.doddsrestaurant.co.uk/ has allways been good when we've been in Ambleside.

Doi Intanon is very good. Sheila's Cottage is excellent.

Dodds heading out towards the Bike Shop and Mountain Warehouse is really good, and fairly reasonable price wise.

Here's a thread I started a while back:

We ended up eating at The Glass House and it was really rather good.

+1 on Glasshouse, Zefferellis (+cinema tockets), Lucy's

Nearby pubs - Outgate (hearty but with touch of flair), Drunken Duck (pricey) and my favourite Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank (downside is its a 20-30 min drive from A'side, but worth it!

Another plus for Dodd's although I think they close early and the chippy next to Ghyllside Cycles on The Slack is decent for some lunch time indugence. The Royal Oak pub on Church Street is great too.

I know about Zefferellis

Well, that's me out. One of my favourite restaurants, that place. It's nice to find a veggie restaurant that's not trying too hard to look like a stables.
