We will be in touch
OK, I've been travelling a lot over the last few weeks and flying into San Francisco on Sunday I got some odd leg pains.
I've an old war wound on the side of my thigh which is aching and also tender to the touch. And I've also got a really sore line down the front of my shin - but I've not whacked it and there's no bruises.
There's no swelling or redness, so I'm not panicking yet. But I'm flying home from SF tonight and want to make sure my leg won't fall off mid flight.
Got to be worth getting it checked out before you leave if you can.
take some aspirin and wiggle your toes lots.
Get it checked out - you're bound to have good insurance
My mother-in-law ended up with a double pulmonary embolism
Straighten your leg then bring your foot/toes up at 90 degs to leg, if it hurts or you can't do it get help. May be worth phoning the GP's and get a nurse to have a look tho'.
Lie flat, straighten your leg, get someone to push your toes upwards - pain in back of calf (severe pain) might indicate DVT - get checked before you fly & throw out a PE.
Might indicate a DVT but studies show its a bobbins test and if there is a clot is likely to break bits off and send them upstream.
If it is the front of your shin it's unlikely
I've had 2 hospitalisations following air travel. DVTs. First time I was at the passing out stage, 2nd time I couldn't breathe - felt like I'd ripped the muscles in my chest.
If you get any odd little "cramps" they may not be what you think. Get checked out right away and don't be an idiot like I was and think it'll go away. Death is one of your options.
If you are worried get it checked asap. Not worth the risk
It is the front of the shin, down the bone, that is tender - which is why I'm not panicking too much yet.
There's a surgery on site at work - I might wander down there.
As I said, it's not red and not swollen (ooh-err) so I don't think it's a DVT. It just seems odd as I normally remember when I've smashed into something (which is what it feels like).
As for the foot thing - it moves fine with no pain.
