[#10226504]

I have an ongoing battle with a deterioration of my eyesight which started with a change in antidepressant /anxiety meds almost a year ago causing intermittent double vision/worsening of presbyopia/light sensitivity and other tiring issues which cause me a lot of stress. Meds have been changed and things are somewhat better but it seems ..despite my eyes not feeling dry , a lot of the problems may be connected to the condition known as Dry eye which can cause all sorts of problems as the 3 fluid layers which protect the eye are sub optimal . This is well known to often be caused by various meds and may continue post discontinuation which is what i am experiencing or so it seems. Anyway ..sorry for the long intro ..I just wanted to ask if you have experience of this condition and have found any lotions/potions which make a big difference. There are so many on the market ranging from £1 a tube to the sky's the limit. I've been using a cheapy but don't mind spending more if it'll make a difference and so far am considering  Hycosan Extra  https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004WRKEX0/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A6PNYATO1EPPV

Any recommendations /advice would be very much appreciated. regards Bill

Hyloforte is what I used when I was having dry eye issues. Available on prescription, or you can buy it at £18 a bottle (as I found out having lost a bottle on holiday...)

The issues were cured by the doctor putting bungs in a couple of my tear ducts though, meaning the tears stay in my eyes that bit longer, maybe explore that?

Iv'e got blepharitis & use Optive Plus which I find excellent. I don't pay for it though cos I'm old.

I talked to my optician about this a few days ago. She sold me a small flax & linseed pillow which you heat up in the microwave then lay it across your eyes for 10 minutes. It's supposed to clean out the little glands in the eyelids. Does seem to be helping. It's called an "Eye Bag" and cost £20.

After my laser eye surgery, I used a gel called clinitas hydrate. Being a gel rather than drops, it seemed to stay in the eye longer.

Hycosan extra is one of the best.

We stock it, ping me your address and I’ll send you some samples.

One of my colleagues is very knowledgeable as well, I’m sure she’d be happy to chat about what might be best, as it’s really about management. The heat pads as have been mentioned work really well, then a gentle cleaner such as Blephasol, then drops.

We’ve had some great results with people who had previously suffered for years.

Systane if my eye feel nippy/dry during day but on Xialitin for during night...stops my eyelid sticking to eyeball and then tearing stuck eyeball when I open my eyes in morning...

The Systane is very infrequent use and has a self-love of about 3 months, so I tend to get 2 or 3 drops use out a bottle in-date...still use it after though.

snap well apart from the old bit, I use the normal Optive.

May be worth having a word with your doctor thou and seeing if they’ll refer you to an eye consultant.

I had a horrid 3 months of this ( struggled to work as it was that bad )but a a week of some 2 quid steroid eye drops and I was back to something manageable, still use drops an some days are better than others.

its grim if you don’t get a handle on it.

Blepharitis here too, and wash with baby shampoo morning and night, followed by viscotears in the morning and hypromellose at night. Eyes stay nice and moist.
