Funny, I can imagine only you doing this.

I didn't write to them for a statement, someone else presumably did years ago - it's all online, and it's a very common [s]debate[/s] area of wrongness.

I find myself saying "if you see what I mean" a lot, and it really annoys me - generally the person who I am speaking to sees perfectly well what I mean because they are not a retard (with the exception of some people at work...).

I'm sure that it must annoy the person that I'm speaking to even more.

My pet hate is 'What do you mean.....?' responses to very simple statements.

We've run out of sugar.

What do you mean we've run out of sugar?

WTF do you think I could possibly mean other than there is no more sugar left in our house?

Bloody Scott Mills, ITYM.

Exactly. And that's not the only one he is responsible for either.

Twunt.

'Grow' used as an active verb: as in, 'we are going to grow the business'.

No you are NOT. The business may grow, but it will either be in spite of your poor use of English, or because you nurtured it well.

When people say 'haitch' instead of 'aitch' for the letter H. Sky sports presenters are particularly bad at this. It has become a bit of an obsession to be fair

If a business can grow, why can't the future tense of the verb "grow" be used to describe it ?

Genuine question.

If I can say "I am going to grow vegetables in the garden"

Why can't I say "I am going to grow the business next year"

"Chav" - it IS used to mean poor 99% of the time and is always sneering and divisive.
Also, "Boils my piss" and "twunt" and any other twee swearing.

'I could care less' always makes my blood boil.

For my job I deal with a lot of Americans, I want to punch them in the face when they say 'Legos'.

If that happens regularly enough to bring on violence, it sounds like you lot need to put away the toys and get some work done 🙂
