My fellow countryman Aleksi Perälä -

https://aleksiperala.bandcamp.com/

Melodic, harmonious, ethereal stuff. All great. Lots and lots of it, Aleksi is really prodigious.

"Aleksi's music is prepared with a special tuning system that eschews traditional Western musical scales in favor of a series of resonant frequencies known as "Kolundi Sequence"."

https://soundcloud.com/20ft_radio/grains-of-peace-w-aleksi-perala-20ft-radio-29032022

Good mix, all of the pieces his own.

https://soundcloud.com/rob_booth/aleksi-perala-482-electronic-explorations This one too, awesome stuff.

Here's a full hour of 100bpm (ish) bleepy acid.  Very nice:

Not massively downtempo with regards to BPM (120) but its acid and a nice head nodding groove. Released 2 weeks ago

@desperatebicycle I saw Rival Consoles at The Barbican Centre a couple of years ago and it was pretty epic.  You should have a good time.

One of Mr Twin's slower EPs, according to internetz it's a sluggish 100bpm, lots of gurgly on it, enjoy the bass.

disliked it at first, but really grew on me.

What's the slowest beat-based electronic music you got?

Actually quite liking this:

"I have always been intrigued by playing audio back at different speeds. Be it speeding up breakbeats to make Jungle or slowing down pop music to make drawn out nostalgic atmospheres”

Some of my first experiments with pitch were with my brother. We’d record ourselves onto cassette and use the hi speed dubbing feature to change the pitch of our voices. If you held the play button down half way it would cause the tape to play back at different speeds - mangling the audio.

“Over the past year I became fascinated with playing on 7 inch records on 33. New rhythms, grooves and textures appear when you change the pitch of audio. It can totally alter the emotional quality of a piece of music you thought you knew so well - creating new artifacts with a familiar yet dreamlike quality.”

I've been listening to his album SLOW860 on Spotify recently.  Not sure if it's the same thing?

Speaking of AFX, this has been blowing me away for the last few days on heavy rotation:

(The cover 'artwork' is perfect, also).

I have listened to this mix pretty much every day this week. WELL chuggy.  Starts out around 80bpm and eventually manages to creep up to around 100:

https://www.nts.live/shows/physical-therapy/episodes/physical-therapy-1st-november-2024

Quite trippy.  The kind of thing that makes me wish I was back home after the club, lights dimmed, about 6am, slightly discombobulated. About 20 years ago...

Also, someone mentioned Om Unit's recent Acid Dub stuff, but thought I'd post his earlier stuff.

This EP was amazing - slow, downtempo spacey techno bassline vibes with a big splash of computer game music.  100bpm ish:

His 'chug revolution' tape from 2011.  This one even has a tune by me in it 😉

I hear ya. The "Oh damn, the sun came up!" and "Who's this random on my sofa?"

My "post club, creeping in the house and praying not to bump into my parents" albums were always something like Logical Progression / Progression Sessions.

A PSA for any BoC fans. Sadly no new album yet, but there are new (and verified) high quality rips of three early tapes that were previously only available in pretty low quality. Some gems, some not so much. Other links available (check twoism/bocpages/rareboc/reddit) if you want complete A/B sides in one track rather than the split tracks.

Another one for BoC fans - reports on Reddit and Twoism that it looks like a new album is finally surfacing. It's only been 14 years!

Definitely - got them all, his new album is finished and sent off to get mastered so it’ll be released soon - looking forward to it.

I guess The Black Dog also belong in here, Loud Ambient 1 below , Loud Ambient 2 is just released

Edit - dunno why the YouTube links below to The Black Dog : Loud Ambient don’t show correctly?
