Lots of my double glazed windows have internal condensation. Anyone had any joy fixing this without replacing the units? I see some people suggest you can drill holes, and add silica gel. I'm not convinced. Anyone tried it?

The main 3 units are about 1500mm x 800mm, what sort of money am i looking at to get new units?

Probably a lot less than you think - just get 3 local companies to quote (don't use the big boys!).

What's your definition of unit?

If you're just talking the glass then cheaper than you think. There are online sites that you can price up replacement panes.

Clearview (first I found on google) say £54 per pane (ex VAT)....so you're looking at £190 for your three inc VAT.

Much too cheap to bother messing about with fixes. I glazed our orangery (#peakmiddleclass) with 1000mm x 1400mm double glazed units and they were under £100 each.

You'll need to remove some of the glazing bars to get exact measurements of your current units, as well as thickness, but this is easy enough with the right tool to lever the bars out.

I just got a quote to replace one blown 820mmx1400mm unit. £135 fitted so not too bad so getting it done. I'm North East based so tradesman costs here can be a bit lower than elsewhere in the UK.

Ah, thats just what I wanted to hear. Will just replace. The old ones will go to build my cold frame veg plot. Job done.

When I say unit, I mean just the glass structure, ie not the upvc frame.
