I don't think a man, who has asked why he can't use nuclear weapons, is the type of man to carry on the deniable wars of his predecessors. He wants a proper war, like Korea or Vietnam - napalm and all - theatrics on a grand and brutal scale. He's the kind of man you'd least want as your CO, who would have sparked mutinies amongst his men if a sailor or the kind that got everyone killed by asking his men to charge guns on horseback - whilst standing from afar.
I think he's a xenophobe.
Seems to like Russia though, loves the UK/Scotland, and 2/3 wives have been foreign, not very xenophobic is it?
Every country is a competitor to be **** over and the best possible deal extracted, in Trumps world.
He doesn't seem to be overly bothered about NAFTA arrangements with Canada, nor about doing deals with the UK - so clearly not every country, is it?

You mean like the type of imbecile who wants to see the EU projecting hard military power, arm itself with nuclear weapons under sole military control without democratic accountability, block the Gibraltar straits and who thinks that a Pacific war in which lots of spams are killed would be a bonus?
You mean like the type of imbecile who wants to see the EU projecting hard military power, arm itself with nuclear weapons under sole military control without democratic accountability, block the Gibraltar channel and who thinks that a Pacific war in which lots of spams are killed would be a bonus?
My answer to that, is that you think the EU should cower to American imperialism. The lack of democratic accountability within the EU is a total and utter myth, and besides - a lack of democratic accountability doesn't mean much. Last time I checked, China's foreign policy was less aggressive and so was the EU's - cultural attitudes inform foreign policy as well as voting behaviour or total lack of it.
And yes, I do think it would be a bonus if Americans learnt some humility in foreign affairs - and they will learn that lesson at some point when India and China are the most dominant forces on the planet - that is, unless the United States successfully impedes their progress.
If Americans had wanted to spread western principles and encourage co-operation among western nations in the face of existential threat, they wouldn't have voted for a man who wants nothing more than to use those allies for cynical unilateral benefit.
learnt some humility in foreign affairs
On the bright side, maybe if there is a large war in the Pacific, loads of spams will get killed - which is always a bonus
Put it this way, I will care a lot less about the Americans getting killed than I will care about Chinese soldiers or Philippine, Taiwanese, Korean etc citizens that get caught in the crossfire.
Interesting... can you remember why the Americans are even in Korea I wonder?
Because Japan and South Korea are all on the list of the United States top ten trade partners - nothing more. They'd rather these countries were subservient than develop their own defensive capability, they'd have a hissyfit if Japan developed nuclear capability. Why? It's not 1945, Japan can be trusted with nuclear arms the same as the Americans can.
When Trump says he wants Europe and it's allies to spend more on defence, what it means is "spend more on what we approve of - buy american - whilst we dictate trade terms to you individually - don't form blocs because that makes us feel threatened".
who would have sparked mutinies amongst his men
Crosses fingers..
TBH I think I'd want to know Tom and ninfan were both a safe distance from any button.
The twitter rants are starting to get more embarresing now, he does know most of his followers are just waiting to see what drivel comes out next?

I don't buy the Hitler comparisons,
End result maybe but process he is there, it is straight from the same play book. There was some great analysis on it, create enimies, demonise, divide people etc. Start with the big lies, refuse to acknowledge they are lies. Once you convince poeople that it's the other lot refusing to tell you the truth you have won.
Difference these days is there are way more people watching and they are watching 24/7 so those little tantrums are now front and centre
Will he see 2018 in the White House?
Put money on it if that's what you think. Personally I think he'll be in the White House till Jan 2025
I think he's a xenophobe.
Seems to like Russia though, loves the UK/Scotland, and 2/3 wives have been foreign, not very xenophobic is it?
You can love things and still hate them or be afraid of them. He loves Scotland so long as it lies down and does what he wants it too. He likes women too.
FWIW whilst on Holiday in morroco had a chat with a bedouin tourguide , he was pretty westernised and not especially devout muslim (liked his hash) , though knew a lot of islamic history,
Anyway he was very aware of Trump and said a lot of people talking about him and his muslim ban, a lot are happy if he was going to take on ISIS, but worried about his support of Putin and Assad and especially Israel.
But interestingly Trump was saying and doing exactly the kind of stuff that the kind of 'bad leaders' they have all over the Arab World do, and that it meant america's power must be fading if theyve elected someone like him.
Put money on it if that's what you think. Personally I think he'll be in the White House till Jan 2025
Whats going to turn around his approval ratings?
Seems to like Russia though, loves the UK/Scotland, and 2/3 wives have been foreign, not very xenophobic is it?
Yeah but he hates Mexicans, Muslims and the Germans along with anyone who stands up to him.
You can love things and still hate them or be afraid of them. He loves Scotland so long as it lies down and does what he wants it too. He likes women too.
And his Daughter.
😆
Actually, I'd laugh if that wasn't so serious.
He loves Scotland so long as it lies down and does what he wants it to.
Well make an Englishman of him yet 😉

Except the one on the mouse
Tom's posts sound like a over excited teenager who reads too much Tom Clancy etc. Personally I still think it's #fakenews Russian trolling of the internet or the pub bore proping up the bar railing against everything including their own contradictions.
Sounds about right, the twitter feed does currently read worse than someone on a solo bender on a Saturday night trying to set the world right (just swap the papers names for ex's)

I consider myself to be a supporter of Philippine nationalism.
If you don't care to understand why, watch Heneral Luna in all of its low budget goodness and read about the Philippine-American war if you want to know why a lot of people can't stand the United States.

All those companies are based in California, so really that's just saying that the whole of California is against him. Which he probably already knew.
Maybe he will break up Google? After all, they did the same thing to AT&T back in the day. That would learn them!
The 97 are spread out a bit and not all in California (Microsoft is in Washington State) but in total the represent a massive amount of revenue for the US tresurary and carry a lot of financial weight (this was the group Trump was sucking up to post election) and most likely a source of jobs going forward. Any idea how he could break up google? They are already splitting with Alphabet being the operating head, they could split, move and seperate across the globe if they wanted to.
In this New World of politics, taking a stance against sexism, racism, equality before the law and supporting an independant judiciary are now partisan and not in accordance with the Tories.
Tories really are a bunch of thick, inbred, nasty twunts!
Strange I can't see a quote from the Foreign Sec there
Donald Trump says his Muslim ban proposal is motivated in part out of fear that the US cities will become like Paris and London, where he says areas are completely radicalised."We have places in London and other places that are so radicalised that police are afraid for their own lives," he said in an interview with MSNBC.
Mr. Johnson, when he heard Mr. Trump's claims, was quick to deny them - and insult the fellow blonde-haired politician.
He said: "Donald Trump's ill-informed comments are complete and utter nonsense."As a city where more than 300 languages are spoken, London has a proud history of tolerance and diversity and to suggest there are areas where police officers cannot go because of radicalisation is simply ridiculous.
"I would welcome the opportunity to show Mr Trump first hand some of the excellent work our police officers do every day in local neighbourhoods throughout our city.
"Crime has been falling steadily in both London and New York - and the only reason I wouldn't go to some parts of New York is the real risk of meeting Donald Trump."
He has completely lost the plot now, releasing a list of terror attacks which apparently were not reported properly by western media. The list includes Paris and Berlin. And is full of spelling mistakes.
And no mention of Israel.
Hope they find the attakers though, I'll slep more safely at night when they do.
Ahh but you see: keeping the Americans afraid sells more guns, maintains the NRA's powerful position, props up the military-industrial complex and gives the Pres a powerful mandate to do whatever he wants.
Either way, it is somewhat irrelevant whether the ban stays or not: it's done it's bit by manipulating the public into believing they are constantly under attack.
Tories really are a bunch of thick, inbred, nasty twunts!
they are all toadies who have their heads so far up arse cracks trying to lick their way to the top that kissing up to another thick racist misogynist **** is just another day in paradise for them.
"Think carefully ... time has no bearing on intelligence. It is really a case of dumb and dumber. "
Think carefully chew time has a real impact on demographics , the electoral college gives weight to empty land containing people unqualified to move to jobs over crowded land full of enterprise, because it was devised in an age when that land was not empty and the crowded land was barren or sparcely populated. 1 tree in a fly over state have the same vote as 3 people in California.
Strange I can't see a quote from the Foreign Sec there
Perhaps because he doesn't say it publicly again doesn't mean he has changed his mind
In this sad world of 24 hour news and virtue signaling the nuance of being able to establish relationships where you can be very frank in private and yet cautious in public is a dying art in diplomacy
Britain has a track record in recent history of doing this successfully which people like Jeremy Corbyn conveniently ignore.
I can picture the meeting post the ban, where the UK lawyer point out that the ban is probably unconstitutional and will be challenged in the states and the whole thing will go away, so the choice is virtue signaling and spoil a new relationship or privately say you think it's bad and publically just wait for due process to kill it
Apologetics - being cautious with Trump in public gives legitimacy to him in the eyes of the British public. It has nothing to do with "virtue signalling", which is a trendy word within the alt-right movement at the moment. In fact your use of the word is virtue signalling in its own right.
Saying "virtue signalling" these days is just a way to try and deride people who aren't arseholes. Oi you, with your moral code and your manners, and your treating others like you expect to be treated, you're just virtue signalling. It's basically the new version of "political correctness gone maaaaaaad".
Think of it as a valuable diagnostic tool, like "echo chamber" and "snowflake"
So apparently Kellyanne just misspoke. Just a simple innocent slip of the tongue. So unfair to jump on it...
Which is odd, because apparently she made exactly the same slip when talking to Cosmopolitan a few days before:
"Why did he do that? He did that for exactly the same reasons. He did that because two Iraqi nationals came to this country, joined ISIS, traveled back to the Middle East to get trained and refine their terrorism skills, and come back here, and were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre of taking innocent soldiers' lives away."
And she also said in another interview with TMZ:
"..there were two Iraqis who came here, got radicalised, joined ISIS, and then were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green attack on our brave soldiers."

The cynic in me says deliberately mis-spoke. Seems a reasonably easy way to try and divert some attention away from trump.
The cynic in me says deliberately mis-spoke.
Of course she did, she mostly tried to make people think there was something happening, the people who will question if the government has been lying to them. that's the same reason for the list of terrorist attacks (not all were) that was put out to make people think (if they didn't pay attention to news that wasn't from the US) that they were being mislead.
I don't even think it was a diversion - just part of the general approach:
Tell big obvious lies, then question the people that question them. If you can do that then the subtler lies are much easier to get away with.
Same approach as Trump claiming that "Any negative polls are fake news.." and "I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data" - i.e. only my version of the truth is real and anyone questioning it is fake and should not be trusted.
That seems like healthy democracy 😯

Mrs Ayliffe added: "The possibility of Mia and Tom's deaths being consequent to an Islamic terror attack was discounted in the early stages of the police investigation."This vilification of whole nation states and their people based on religion is a terrifying reminder of the horror that can ensue when we allow ourselves to be led by ignorant people into darkness and hatred."
I think we best get used to a daily avalanche of lies from the Trump administration.
The truth is now what Donald Trump says it is.
Get with the programme.
So apparently Kellyanne just misspoke. Just a simple innocent slip of the tongue. So unfair to jump on it...
No, absolutely not, I think it would be fair an illegitimate for The Doughnut to jump on this and make a fuss. She should be made an example of.
So apparently Kellyanne just misspoke. Just a simple innocent slip of the tongue. So unfair to jump on it...
Like the bloke who murdered the girl in Australia 'misspoke' when he was screaming Allahu Ackbar while stabbing people to death you mean?
Impressive whatabouterry there ninfan. 😐
Smail Ayad, the bloke who murdered the British backpackers in Oz, was a French National. Is Trump banning the French as well?
He doesn't even look particularly "Muslimy" - reckon Homeland Security would stop him?
Police and those involved said it wasn't a terrorist attack. His case has been transferred to a mental health court.
No, I agree, type of mistake any of us could make in the heat of the moment. Just a simple innocent slip of the tongue, Completley unfair to jump on it.
Ok, I think I see your point now. You're saying that Kellyanne Conway is only as dangerously unhinged as a suspected-schizophrenic double murderer?
Like the bloke who murdered the girl in Australia 'misspoke' when he was screaming Allahu Ackbar while stabbing people to death you mean?
Irrelevant bullshit post of the day!
What time does the next round of WW3 top trumps start?
You're saying that Kellyanne Conway is only as dangerously unhinged as a suspected-schizophrenic double murderer?
No, like all of Trumps team, she is far more dangerous than that, in fact I would go so far as to admit that it's only by a twist of fate that she isn't camp commandant in one of Donald (literally Hitler)'s internment camps yet.
Like the bloke who murdered the girl in Australia 'misspoke' when he was screaming Allahu Ackbar while stabbing people to death you mean?
Fine line between being mildly entertaining and being a bit of a ****.
Yeah, yeah. I know. I just gave him fuel for the next 24hrs.
Yeah, yeah. I know. I just gave him fuel for the next 24hrs.
You can't help yourself, it's like Catnip for photoshop web gurus
I don't really understand your defence here ninfan.
Are you claiming Kellyanne did have an innocent slip of the tongue, three separate times, just like the Oz killer?
Or are you admitting that what she said was a deliberate lie, but that's okay because look at what the Oz killer said?
I don't really understand your defence here ninfan.
I think it's quite clear, he's actually lost the plot. I can see Y fronts on head and pencils up nose. Wibble.
No, like all of Trumps team, she is far more dangerous than that, in fact I would go so far as to admit that it's only by a twist of fate that she isn't camp commandant in one of Donald (literally Hitler)'s internment camps yet.
I don't really understand your defence here ninfan.
Its designed to make ANYONE respond to him and you keep feeding him.
He cares not for truth accuracy or anythign as long as some "snowflake" is annoyed by his outburst enough to reply then he will be sat somewhere getting wood and ready to type something else to keep it all going
I'm not quite ready to dismiss ninfan as a pure troll yet Junkyard.
He does seem to believe in Trump and has contributed some interesting counterpoints amongst the snowflake jibes and general snarkiness.
yes junky, how dare I agree that it's impossible to really know someone's motives, but easy to apply the benefit of the doubt equally to both sides rather than partially depending on whether I perceive them to be goodies or baddies.
ninfan does it not matter to you that Trump is BLATANTLY LIEING?? That you are being lied to??
Aaah.. was that your point? Okay, why didn't you just say that?
Sure, we don't know for sure what Kellyanne's real motives are.
But we can say her defence that she simply "misspoke" and "meant to say Bowling Green terrorists" looks very suspect when you realise she "misspoke" it in three separate interviews.
he is not a troll [ in the traditional sense] he is just someone who craves attention and will say any old shit to get a reaction from anyone and he loves to argue the barely tenable for shits and giggles I assume - he quite likes to goad as wellI'm not quite ready to dismiss ninfan as a pure troll yet Junkyard.
Best of luck but it will be like debating with a flat earther but in this case a flat earther who knows its BS and they just want to frustrate you with their gibberish 😉
I'm not quite ready to dismiss ninfan as a pure troll yet Junkyard.
Now that's what I call gullible.
Do you honestly think that ninfan would go to such lengths to make rightwingers look daft and without any sort of coherent argument if he wasn't a troll?
looks very suspect when you realise she "misspoke" it in three separate interviews.
Makes it more believable surely - was briefed on huge amounts of information, got the wrong end of one of the briefings or mixed it up with another, simple human error
It's more than possible, I'm sure you would agree. In fact I would suggest that Occam's razor (or perhaps even heinleins razor) would suggest that it's the most likely explanation
The problem is that once you start seeing things as conspiracies, everything looks like a conspiracy - in much the same was as if you start calling people Hitler , your perception filter makes everything look Hitlerish. see Scott Adams excellent blog on this: http://blog.dilbert.com/post/156540315831/be-careful-what-you-wish-for-especially-if-it-is
Ps. Loving the fact that Junky and Ernie response to the point that you can't really ever know someone else's motives it to attribute a motive, nice work boys 😉
Fantastic example of the 'perception lens' Problem here:
Dry sense of humour, or menacing threat?
Now, let's see a couple of examples of how that's reported:
Independent:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-state-senator-destroy-career-texas-a7567936.html
How can two newspapers report it so differently? One as a threat, one as a joke? each gives an entirely different impression.
The full meeting is here for context, the question at about 27 minutes

Incompetent rather than a liar. Good defence.
Makes it more believable surely
Got a verifiable source for Bowling Green?......
Otherwise..
Dry sense of humour, or menacing threat?
going full godwin on that
quite dry and funny for a german
but was it dry sense of humour or menacing threat ?
Makes it more believable surely ..
Not to me, no. It was clearly a scripted/rehearsed response to an expected question, as her wording was nearly identical each time.
And her defence wasn't that she got it mixed up with some other attack or briefing. She claims it was just a slip of the tongue. Three times.
but was dry sense of humour or menacing threat ?
<bangs head against wall>
it's impossible to really know someone's motives, but easy to apply the benefit of the doubt equally to both sides rather than partially depending on whether I perceive them to be goodies or baddies.
why not go and watch the longer video and form your own opinion instead of relying on other people to spoon feed you what to think?

He's made his appeal to Occam's razor now, the issue is closed.
It doesn't actually matter if the "destroy his Career" was a joke or a threat.
I either case it is a completely in-appropriate thing for the President of the USA to say, and simply reveals that Trump is a see you next tuesday of the highest order..........
It's also why, imo, he will achieve nothing with his playground politics, and just veer from badly thought out crisis to badly thought out crisis, all the time alienating even his supporters as he goes.
ninfan Allah Akbar is Arabic for god is great or Good God, I say sweet jesus and good god regularly that does not make me a Christian just someone who has been raised in a Christian influenced environment.
Kelly Anne did not misspeak you cant fit her alternative word logically into her actual sentence. She also said US soldiers were killed in the Bowling Green Massacre , if she was briefed inaccurately then it was the Trump team that chose to feed her a false narrative. 3 times once a mistake twice incompetence 3 times is a plan.
see grham anything for a response 😉
THE ISSUE IS CLOSED. Apparently she's just incompetent.
ninfan Allah Akbar is Arabic for god is great or Good God, I say sweet jesus and good god regularly that does not make me a Christian just someone who has been raised in a Christian influenced environment.
Yes, I agree, I'm perfectly happy to give him the benefit of the doubt, I said that - it's exactly the type of thing that might innocently slip out of your mouth whilst stabbing people to death. I'm more than happy to accept that
Still waiting for that verifiable source ninfan..
He's made his appeal to Occam's razor now, the issue is closed.
You obviously 'don't read good', I also clearly pointed out The applicability of Heineins razor, but I understand and apologise if the concept was beyond your cognitive ability.
Still waiting for that verifiable source ninfan..
You're waiting for a verifiable source regards a massacre that everyone accepts didn't happen, but everyone also accepts witnessed Iraqi refugees in the US involved in the attempted supply of weapons and explosives to People trying to kill US soldiers in Iraq 😕
Undermine and/or act to impede freedom of the press?

No no no that is absolutely NOT the same.
None of my muslim friends from All over the world would say "Allah Akbar" unless something serious or going into "battle" (in SE Asia racial clash). God is great is normally a "battle cry" or for something serious. Nobody will say or shout "Allah Akbar" for no reason.
Their version of "sweet Jesus" is "Yah Allah" or simply "Allah" or in SE Asia we say "Alamak" (Oh my God). The term alamak is used by all ethic groups regardless of religious denomination.

Ninfan no body gave him the benefit of the doubt the case was fully investigated by the Australian police who determined it was not islamist terrorism ,or do you have a secret insight or skill that the police lack.

Allahu Akbar - "God is greatest ". I don't think it would be used in the same way as we use "Good God".
Slowoldman is correct the term does not refer to "Good God" but is an expression of domination over others. It is also a way to establish power or build up own courage.
