His next move will be to try and fire his legal team, however the judge can deny this.

Paperwork for Trumps $175 bond has been rejected. It’s been returned marked “returned for correction” apparently there may be questions about the Bond Insurance being able to cover that amount

nickc - if that's correct, I want to give your post 20 ticks  but am limited to just one!

Does this mean the 'error' must be corrected by today's close else the AG can start to collect OR will the court say it's an 'unintentional' error and allow time to correct OR will it be seen as a deliberate play for more time by deliberately submitting documentation with an error which could and should have been picked up?

There are also questions whether Hankey's "Knight Speciality Insurance" is licensed for this type of bond in NY.

In Georgia subversion case, judge has rejected trump's free speech/1st amendment argument to have the case tossed.

I wonder what good news tomorrow will bring?

Oh hang on, time difference means it's only early afternoon over there so still plenty of time for more to happen today!

DJT down again today to $42 from a high a few days ago of $79. Came across this gem of a comment on the reddit discussion:
Yes - basically everyone knows this is a grifty dogshit “social media” company with single-location carwash revenues- so everyone is really just betting the margins on how dogshit a company it is, or more precisely, when will we recognize that fact and how low will it go? I’d say it’s going to $0, but it could easily take 5+ years to get there. This is like trying to value TSLA on its fundamentals vs the aura of Elon- except it’s to the next degree of magnitude. There are more than zero people out there putting their life savings into DJT purely because they love Trump that much. I feel bad for them, to a point. I feel worse for their kids.

Seems normal (for Trumpland)

Police Report: Trump County Chair Threatened To Rape Boss's Wife, Then Kill Him

One of Donald Trump’s county campaign chairs in New Hampshire lost his job as a police officer after threatening to kill his colleagues in a shooting spree, murder the department chief and rape the chief’s wife in retaliation for his suspension over his relationship with a high school girl, according to a newly released report from an internal affairs investigation.
Jonathan Stone, who is currently a second-term state representative, was announced as Trump’s Sullivan County chair by his campaign on June 27, 2023. The coup-attempting former president first came to know Stone during Trump’s 2016 run, when Stone gave him an inscribed AR-15 assault rifle at a campaign stop.

At that point, it had been a decade since Stone had lost his job with the Claremont Police Department, which agreed to a settlement negotiated by the local police union that kept the investigative records secret. The documents were ordered to be released last week by the New Hampshire Supreme Court in a lawsuit by a local newspaper over Stone’s objections.
Stone, who opened a gun shop after losing his job as a police officer, did not reply to HuffPost queries.

Stephen Stepanek, Trump’s New Hampshire campaign chair, said he knew nothing about Stone’s background until seeing news accounts.
“I just found out about it this morning,” Stepanek said Wednesday. “He’s been a Trump supporter for a long time, and he’s been a state representative, and he had, as far as we were concerned, what looked like a great background.”

Stepanek said Stone’s future with the campaign has not been determined.
“We haven’t made any decisions at this point,” he said, adding that he expected the campaign’s top aides at Trump’s South Florida country club would be taking the lead. “I think it will be handled by Mar-a-Lago, in consultation with me.”
Campaign co-managers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles did not respond to HuffPost queries.
According to the files released last week, the original 2006 investigation was launched to look into allegations that Stone was involved in a relationship with a 16-year-old high school girl. Department officials decided to suspend Stone for five days and ordered him not to contact her anymore.
Stone, who, according to the files, had already displayed a temper, began telling co-workers about his plans for violence.
One police co-worker told investigators she had heard Stone make threats to a colleague.
“That conversation included discussion about backing a truck up to the back door, kicking the door open and going on a shooting spree,” the co-worker said. “While Jon was under investigation for something, he said he was going to tie up the chief, make the chief watch him as he pillages the chief’s wife and children.”
A department detective told investigators: “I recall Jon saying he was going to go to the chief’s house and rape the chief’s wife, and kids, and shoot the chief.”

The investigators concluded that Stone should not keep his job.
“The seriousness of threatening to kill command staff officers, raping the chief’s wife, tying people up and going ‘postal’ are violations at the most serious level. Stone’s conduct goes so far beyond what is expected of a professional police officer that [the] only appropriate resolution is his removal from office,” investigators wrote.
In 2016, Stone, who by then had opened Black Ops Arms in Claremont, New Hampshire, presented Trump with an AR-15 rifle inscribed with the numbers “1-4-5,” signifying that Trump was his first choice to become the 45th president.
Stone has remained in Trump’s camp since. Trump named him one of his 14 New Hampshire county and city chairs last June and praised him from the stage during a rally in Claremont five months later.
It is unclear what came of the assault rifle Stone gave Trump in 2016.
Trump, who lost New Hampshire in both 2016 and during his 2020 reelection bid, won the state’s primary again three months ago, clearing the way to his third straight Republican presidential nomination despite facing four separate criminal prosecutions.
Two of those are based on his actions leading up to and on Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of his followers attacked the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to reinstall him as president.

A federal indictment could go to trial as early as late August, depending on the timing of a Supreme Court ruling on his claim that he is immune from prosecution. A Georgia state prosecution based on his attempt to overturn his election loss in that state could also start later this year.
A New York state prosecution on charges that he falsified business records to hide hush money payments in the days before the 2016 election is to begin jury selection on Monday, while a second federal prosecution based on his refusal to turn over secret documents he took with him from the White House to Mar-a-Lago has not yet been set for trial.
In 2023, a New York jury found that Trump had sexually penetrated writer E. Jean Carroll against her will in an incident in the 1990s, finding him civilly liable for sexual abuse. The federal judge in the case later clarified that Trump’s actions were rape in the “common modern parlance.”

And I’ll bet you a bottle of the most orange fake tan that none of the criminal cases end in jail time.

There was another recent story of Joe Lewis, the billionaire owner of Spurs committing insider trading that netted those involved millions of Dollars.

Sentence - 3 years probation and $5m fine. Zero jail time.

Net worth 6billion, so $5m is chickenfeed,

Trump's lawyers on their 3rd desperate attempt to get the trail delayed. so far they've tried to get it moved, the judge recused and saying that he can't turn up as he's campaigning...Imagine what the phone call from the Don must be like every hour or so giving you a shit-tonne of hassle demanding to know why the trail is still going ahead and you've not got him out of jeopardy yet.

They must know they're never going to get paid, right? I mean, the last person Trump ever pays is his lawyers.

You cannot short DJT as even the puts are sold out it's bigly being held (loaned) by people just waiting to short it but I think it will  be such a fast drop it might get suspended then dumped to 0. I can only hope anyway.

They've announced a few million more shares, so presumably it'll get much worse when they are issued and dilute the existing ones further. You'd have to be mad to buy into a new issue but...

Also changed their rules to let the existing shareholders sell them at will and not wait 6 months according to the radio news.  Didn't see that one coming.  🙄

If I understand correctly it's permission to issue new shares but they've not been issued as yet? But obviously the stock price would tank accordingly with the dilution. Bizzarely Trump gets up to 36 million more shares as a "success bonus" if they keep the shares above $17.50, quite something saying that success is only losing 80% of their value.

I've not seen anything confirming the 6 month lockup's been relaxed though, or if it has, what the terms are, though? It all gets really fun at 0.000001 seconds after they're allowed to sell, as the algorithms fight to dump before the dumping kills the value, but why would there even be buyers?

(Genuine ones in volume, I mean- there's bound to be the few idiots buying the Trump brand from their trailer parks but they can't afford enough to matter. But nongenuine is where it gets so funky, it's a terrible investment but a good way to throw money to a bankrupt and cheaply bought presidential candidate...)

The mad thing is that people can still make money from a company that has all the real world value of a christmas tree seller squatting in an abandoned petrol station. And yes of course that'll be spun as "business genius" if he gets away with it.

Techincal detail aside, what we are seeing here is a real test of the robustnes of the American legal system, at the highest level.

Trump, like him or loath him, is shaking down the 'american dream' to the core.

So it's right it should be played out in the highest courts.

What the outcome of that is, is pretty ****ing bothersome...but the USA needs to decide if it's a dicatorship or not.

Was talking about this last night with the GF. I genuinely believe it is impossible to hold a fair trial for him if that trial involves a jury. He is _sooooo_ divisive that even a random jury would be split for and against (maybe even despite lying to say they would be impartial), or his lawyers would object to people that either _are_ impartial or seem to be.

I could see the only people they would agree to would be 12 blue-faced shamen redneck Proud Boys.

I'd say even a non-jury trial could go against reason/evidence if the judges were as bad as the Republican senators in his impeachment trial.

Federal Judges are political appointments in the US system, there's an argument that their system has bias built in. However I don't think anyone ever envisioned the system having to sit in judgement of a president (ex or otherwise)

or his lawyers would object to people that either _are_ impartial or seem to be.

His lawyers in the trail of his ropey business practices opted for a bench trail partly for this reason. Trump (and the alt-right media)  now spin a lie to say that the trail was somehow a rigged non-jury trail, that it wasn't somehow his own lawyer's choice, and that the 'system' is rigged against Trump.

If he's found not guilty - US justice at its finest, if he's found guilty - rigged jury, biased judge, deep state persecution of a political opponent. You know how it works.

It’s not a federal court, it’s a state court. Trump can’t pardon himself for state crimes.

Apparently, yesterday, he kept falling asleep in court. Not a good look! There’s already a contempt of court ruling scheduled for the 25th.

I disagree. The requirement for a fair trial is just that that jury rule based on the evidence. I don't see that as impossible.

Federal Judges are political appointments in the US system,

Yes, but they are appointed for life, as far as I know. Until Trump, I think presidents did take the appointments seriously and tried to appoint serious jurists. That doesn't mean that Democrats didn't appoint liberal justices and Republicans didn't appoint conservatives, but they wanted to appoint smart people who took the job seriously - many of Trump's legal setbacks have come from conservative justices who don't buy into his claims of presidential immunity, etc.. On top of that, federal judges have to be confirmed by the senate so they have traditionally been fairly thoroughly vetted. Trump and Mitch McConnell tried to end that tradition, but the vast majority of federal judges are serious people who take their responsibilities seriously and feel no loyalty to any president.

Doesn't shorting require a counter party that looses money? Would anyone be stupid enough to take that punt? Possibly Donald due to his unshakable confidence in his own business acumen.

The "counter party that looses money" is the maga crowd that bought the stock on release because they were clueless about the business fundamentals.

Frankly the price at release to take advantage of "unsophisticated" investors is fraud, unfortunately it looks like it is another caser of immorality by the mega wealthy not being kept in check by the law. However the stock dilution stinks of insider trading, market manipulation and a conspiracy by the "shorters" and DJT to disadvantage those investors. And it wouldn't surprise me if this action to accelerate stock fall the is what might bring another criminal proceeding.
