pca - no, I didn't forget about Tiffany; she's had very limited involvement compared with her step siblings and has also said very little.

You, like Trump, have forgotten about Tiffany.

She might not be his type.

Assuming this is being done in the hope he wins and can then pardon himself?

So, is there any legal precedence for delaying a trial because the defendant would like to apply for a job??? Another desperate attempt to delay and obfuscate...

Seems probable that another indictment is coming.

It needs to happen. It may provoke his more militant supporters back on to the streets, which will at least force the whole country to piss or get off the pot*

The whole Trump boil needs lancing and purging so America can start to move on.

*accepting that this may entail tragic loss of life.

I think he wrote that out with a partially eaten crayon, then some unfortunate had to transcribe it and turn it into barely literate English.

All his statements read like that.

He'll have three separate groups of indictments hanging over his campaign within the next couple of weeks, and he'll still be nominated as candidate by the party of law and order...

Add racketeering to the growing list....

IANAL, but "racketeering" sounds serious. Here's hoping another book is thrown at him.

I can't figure out if this is real or parody.

Jack Smith has just issued a 'superceding indictment' which puts the odious orange one in even deeper shit.
Excellent news.

A former Trump White House lawyer ( Ty cobb) said the evidence against the former president over his handling of classified documents was now “overwhelming” and would “last an antiquity”, after new charges were filed in the case on Thursday.

One of the key things for me is can the prosecutors get one of the aides to flip?  they must surely realise at some point they are going to do real jail time unless they cut a deal.  waiting for Trump to get elected president again and pardon them seems a huge risk compared to years inside

waiting for Trump to get elected president again and pardon

a think a 1000 or so Jan 6ers jailed or facing jail time just now will remind those aides that when Trump says he'll pay for everyones dinner.. he won't.

The bad news is that being indicted or even convicted doesn't appear to stop him running for president. His base don't even seem to care too much about the charges

The good news is that it does appear to eat significantly into any campaign funds he has and elections are heavily dependant on both funding and facetime so it does make it more difficult for him to win.

All the money in the world can't buy respect.
I hope all the people that he (even remotely) cares about, leave him.

I've just read on BBC that across all the charges there's 72 counts of fraud and conspiracy just relating since his time as president.

Makes BoJo look like an amateur.

Meanwhile the Guardian reckons that since Ivanka and Jared have come crawling back and are starting to be seen with him again, it must mean he has a good shout at getting back in!

Wow. What an unpleasant interview on R4 just now with Sebastian Gauke. Irrespective of his views on Trump, just the approach to the interview itself.

They should have indicted him for sedition (conviction automatically disqualifies you from running for office), just so the RNC would have the prospect of a candidate who couldn't be a candidate a few months out from election day.

The fact that such a huge chunk of voters still back him regardless means that no election can resolve the sickness in US politics. It will spill over into violence again.

That Gorka **** up there 👆 is a professional agitator and all round bell end. I just wish he didn’t have a pompous British accent lest the rest of the world think we’re also deranged nut jobs with a fetid political system… 🤔

I don't understand why they gave him a platform. I know some will argue its about balance but the story is a potential criminal being charged with crimes. Just report the facts, no need for a minority voice to be given a national media platform

I've never thought Trump would actually go to jail but it doesn't feel like an impossible scenario. There must be some fascinating planning discussions going in within the Secret Service. How would you efficiently manage his security in jail?

Roll on the trial!

Very much this. The Democrats seem to want to have Trump as the Republican candidate as this will divide the country into hardcore MAGA Trump nutjobs and everyone else. I think they need to be very careful what they wish for.

Said hardcore MAGA Trump nutjobs have shown that they're more than willing to * democracy off if its not going their way and go for the armed approach instead. Combine that with the fact that Trump fully gets this and will ruthlessly exploit it, and the MAGA nutjobs have got more arms than the Ukrainian army and you could soon have some serious shit on your hands that makes the last time look like a slight regional skirmish

Meanwhile, I imagine that the part of the American electorate that isn't married to its cousin and stockpiling assault rifles is looking at the two likely choices being offered to them as presidential candidates and saying 'are you *ing serious?! THAT is what we've got to choose from?!'

Obviously, given the choice we were offered in 2019, I can understand their feelings on that front

Theres quite a big divide between the people who actively participate in nominations and primaries and the rest of the voting public, while for instance Trump is far and away the front runner in the nominations and Biden is the elected encumbant most of the general voting public don't actually want either of them - they just won't get anyone else on the ballot paper.

That's the problem for Biden - he should have spent his first term getting his successor in place, and called it a day at one term. Sadly I don't think Kamala Harris fits the bill, as the political discourse is so utterly poisoned that she doesn't have a chance.

I love the way they scream about it being politically motivated, then on the same breath attack Biden thorough the antics of his son.

Or are all for law, and law enforcement, except of course when it's Trump breaking the law.

Trump is just a loudmouth clown. DeSantis on the other hand is seriously scary.
