Post-truth politics in overdrive as politicians now just openly lie and let social media and the tabloids make them perceived reality.

Same as any other previous means used to control the masses but seems more blatant to those who are 'woke'.

Gets votes and that's all that matters.

As we all remember the day he went on a tv phone in to brag how he now had the tallest building in downtown Manhattan.

To be fair though, his words on Twitter were thoughtful, sombre, reflective and full of empathy:

Has he maybe reached the stage of beibf indefensible.

Recent reports are showing his base has worked out that he is now starting to insult them. The mocking the southerners was a big mistake, expect to see that on election posters.

It's so often the problem with that sort of person.

A bit like a rabid dog - willing to turn at any second.

There will be people all over 'merica going "hang on a minute, he means us"....although it may take a while for the penny to drop in some cases.

He's either been banned for good, or he's had a startlingly self revealatory moment that trying to prop up his clearly fragile self esteem through validation via the medium of arguing on a mountain bike forum wasn't good for his mental health...

I'm going with banned personally

Well the only advantage to turning over staff that fast is nobody knows where all the bodies are buried!!

Given Manefort has pled guilty to all charges (even those not proved) as part of his deal and given up a huge amount of his property and assets in with it, I don't see him owing Trump much now, that free work he did could have been the most costly he ever did. He will be happy to have an easy life

I think the whole ‘Trump’ experience is going to prove costly for a lot of people.

Apparently Hannity is now saying that trump will be sacking Mueller soon.

I might be up for some Trump consulting as long as he pays up front 🙂

Apparently Hannity is now saying that trump will be sacking Mueller soon.

I imagine Hannity is now increasingly keen on helping produce the kind of shitstorm which might distract the authorities from looking into his own business dealings with Cohen. Persuading Trump to sack Mueller should do it...

Just let President Trump get on with it as he is doing well and people still support him.

Also in the near future EU will feel the full force of East and West ...

Yup,make way for Francisco

They think Francisco would have two options as Mueller’s new boss: He could keep the status quo and allow Mueller to continue the investigation, or he could choose to curtail Mueller’s mandate or even shut down the investigation.

From Vox ^^

Yeah I saw that one.

https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/nikki-haley-donald-trump-united-nations_us_5bab7019e4b0f143d10ee8f4

US Ambassador Nikki Haley desperately grasping for a positive spin for Fox & Friends, no matter how absurd it is.

“They loved how honest he is,” Haley said. “It’s not diplomatic and they find it funny. ... When he goes and he is very truthful, they kind of were taken back by it.”

Yeah that'll be it right enough. Definitely not that they think he is a massive orange bellend who lies almost every time he opens his mouth.

Trump later told reporters that his boastful comment was meant to draw laughter.

“Oh, it was great,” he said. “Well, that was meant to get some laughter, but it was great.”

Apparently he meant to get the reaction he didn't expect

I still find the "ME ME ME" narrative of Trump's press conferences just astonishing.

When asked about Kavanaugh's alleged conduct, he responds by talking about women who've accused him. When asked questions about North Korea, he asserts that without him, the US would be a war with North Korea right now (yeah, he actually said that)  In answers about the trade war he's conducting with China, he suggests that all trade experts thinks he's very smart...and on and on and on.

The man is the president, you literally can't go higher in the US, and yet his ego is so fragile that he still can't help justifying himself either through obviously check-able made up Trump "facts" or just flat out lies, it's just weird.

There's a lot of people making money out of writing books about Trump

Funny that his crowning achievement will be the creation of an entire new genre of literature devoted to exposing just how stupid and vain he is.

Well after a bit of consideration the NYT gave me an idea of something Trump has accomplished

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/29/opinion/sunday/fury-is-a-political-weapon-and-women-need-to-wield-it.html

Well I think at this point he has kicked off and woken up a power and a fury in the US and possibly gone a long way to start breaking up the old white man monopoly that has locked down politics in the US

I don't think this was in his plan though

More credit to trump

By age 3, Mr. Trump was earning $200,000 a year in today’s dollars from his father’s empire. He was a millionaire by age 8. By the time he was 17, his father had given him part ownership of a 52-unit apartment building. Soon after Mr. Trump graduated from college, he was receiving the equivalent of $1 million a year from his father. The money increased with the years, to more than $5 million annually in his 40s and 50s.

Not sure how many other 3 year old had used theis skills to earn 200k a year.

Or the other version

From The New York Times:

Trump Engaged in Suspect Tax Schemes as He Reaped Riches From His Father

The president has long sold himself as a self-made billionaire, but a Times investigation found that he received at least $413 million in today’s dollars from his father’s real estate empire, much of it through tax dodges in the 1990s.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-schemes-fred-trump.html

I think we would all have struggled on with that sort of hard start in life.

I doubt he's read the book.

As an aside, I'm more perplexed that Quentin Blake appears to think that Matilda would go on to run a Hair and Beauty Parlour in her 30s:

Which makes me wonder if he has read the book either. Matilda's mum, who ignored her and finally abandoned her, was the one obsessed with looks. It would be an odd thing for Matilda to fall in to.

The other suggestions seem much better to me:

At least his Golf empire is doing well.

The Turnberry golf resort owned by US president Donald Trump has racked up millions of pounds of losses for the fourth year in a row.
According to Companies House filings, SLC Turnberry's parent company Golf Recreation Scotland was in the red by almost £3.4m in 2017.

In the previous year, it posted losses of £17.6m after the resort was closed for six months for redevelopment.

Since Mr Trump took over Turnberry in 2014, its losses have totalled £33m

I am sure it's all 'fake news' and people can't see his long term vision.
