Yes i realise that even a draft dodging politician, who have never served, can be the commander in chief if elected to the office of President
What is your point?
How does it negate mine?
What i dont understand is how all these right wing folk[ republican and patriotic americans] are so partisan that they are willing to turn a blind eye to ever increasing evidence of collusion at all levels,
Cognitive Dissonance.
It's all going to be fine:

Newsnight Opinion Piece
The problem with that piece^^ is that it fails to take into account the normalisation of multiple facts.
In it, she compared Trump to Nixon, to Hitler, to Clinton and various others, saying "ah, but all these others have done similar things to Trump when they were president, so we shouldn't be surprised". But the fact remains, Trump, as a SINGLE president, in a very short period of time has simultaneously behaved as badly as ALL those other people mentioned throughout history!
And added to which "it's ok, someone else was bad too" is not a valid defense.
You wouldn't expect me to murder your wife and use "oh, it's ok, because Peter Sutcliffe murdered lots of women" as an excuse would you now?
There is hysteria around Trump simply because he warrants it. Very few people in this world get excited or hysterical about nothing, Yes a few people can over react, but what we are seeing here is a MASS reaction, an by the law of averages that means it's a valid one.

My point is that as the Commander in Chief, they have the right to wear the apparel of the military that serves under them, regardless of their combat experience. It's part of the office and therefore can't/shouldn't be used as a stick to beat individual Presidents.
I don't agree with it, much like I find it odd that our Queen wears military garb from time-to-time, but it comes with the job.
Well at least the Queen has a proper uniform not just a bomber jacket and baseball cap. Oh and she can ride side saddle, I bet Trump can't.
Whilst looking for that one I also came across a couple of pictures of preparations for "that" state visit.
[quote=slowoldman ]Oh and she can ride side saddle, I bet Trump can't.
I presume she will be keeping Trump to the offside when greeting him.
and iirc the two republicans both dodged the Vietnam draft
for the sake of avoiding accusations of Bias. I think Clinton was also guilty of "going to great lengths" and "calling in a number of favours" to avoid the draft, as did Trump and Bush (although, again to be fair to him, at least Bush was actually in the National Guard)
Indeed you are correct about Bill did avoid the draft- news to me that fact.
I am not sure if this is bias but he was actually opposed to the war i suspect Trump and Bush were just opposed to endangering themselves and supported the war but i dont know for certain.
The upper echelons of American society are full of chicken hawks, which at least in part helps to explains much of aggressive US foreign policy.
Jacques Chirac saw combat in a nasty war which was one of the reasons why France was so strongly opposed to the drive to go to war in Iraq. When George W bush announced "game's over" for Saddam Hussein, he responded with "it's not a game and it's not over".

The whole point is that the military is subservient to the elected leaders of the civilians and are answerable to them- ie the Commander in chief is a civilian as they are here - the military are under democratic controls for fairly obvious reasons
Given this , and the fact they have never served, its a bit daft to wear a uniform as they are not technically part of the military they are simply the leader of the military
Granted it appears they all do it and its a reasonable point to say that we should not mock trump for this as they have all done it

The kit on those photos doesn't look like proper uniform, to me: they look more like the kind of kit a sports fan would wear to support their team. Maybe they picked it up from a bootleg seller outside the venue
😆
Which is why I've told my kids if anyone says you should go to war only listen if they are willing to stand in front of you.
is the guy wearing the danger chevron tie as a "keep off my tackle Mr president" ?
The thing about the jacket and all that is more the amount of piss take ammunition he gives, the words around are terrible from him. Yet again he doesn't really get any of the significance of stuff. Yes his core support love it and blame the msm for everything but his core does not give him a majority, he needs the republican party with him which he is losing fast.
is the guy wearing the danger chevron tie as a "keep off my tackle Mr president" ?
And is he deliberately wearing it too long to fit in with Captain Tango Smallhands and his ridiculous "look at my junk" droopy ties?
Is there any male bovine excrement this guy wont come up with.

Just when you thought he might be growing up a bit ...
The only real parallel with nixon is clear to see.
I imagine Obama is sitting at home chuckling to himself.
The guy is clearly unstable.
Can't we just organise an open-top car journey past a book depository? Grassy knoll would be good too.

Why would you tap the phone of a man who broadcasts every brain-fart as a tweet?
Why would you tap the phone of a man who broadcasts every brain-fart as a tweet?
The truth is likely to be the opposite and The Doughnut will be found to have been bugging Obama.
Dead Cat, trying to divert attention from Sessions, don't think it'll work though.... washington vets know a dead man walking when they see one and will not lay off. No matter what ol' stupid says.
Don't worry folks, normal service has been resumed, he's ranting about the Apprentice and Arnie again. 😀

he was doing that 30 minutes after tweeting that he'd just discovered he'd been bugged. Because obviously if Watergate II was legit it'd only hold your attention span for ooh look a squirrel!
Meanwhile what's going on with his attorney general and son in law.... What's that another distraction needed, seems to be wearing a little thin.
Seems like the massive pro Trump rally didn't come off well either
Someone will be along to defend him shortly, won't they? 😐
Won't they? 🙁
World book day was yesterday, sir. Also, Top Gun isn't a book
That made me chuckle 😀
I am starting to feel really sorry for the republicans
Its very easy for the democrats and the sane we can just point and laugh and oppose him
However the republicans find themselves controlling all the levers of power and then they look up and see who is POTUS and they have to decide whether to work with him or oppose him
Eventually his erratic approach to truth and facts is going to destroy that party both at the governmental level and at the electoral level as anyone not in the tea party will see this man as a nutter
Sooner or later the republicans are going to have to face up to the reality that there is some real truth in the russia link and they will have to put either America or the republican party first
Plenty will do the former and then POTUS is in trouble

I'm not sure anyone with any self respect can. We've now reached the stage where you can't defend him without making yourself look a ridiculous pillock (I would argue that we reached that stage pre-election). All he will have left is inbred yokels, the klan and ultra cynical business leaders.
I'm not sure anyone with any self respect can
Don't worry. ninfan'll be back next week.

“I thought there’d be a little bit more people,” said Lance Lovejoy, from Maspeth in Queens. “But it’s a little bit cold out. And it wasn’t well put out either. I only found out about it yesterday.”
“We just want people to know President Trump has support,” Dooley said. “He’s under attack and when somebody’s under attack it’s nice to know that people out there have their back.”
Some people still love him
Some people still love him
Beggars belief.
The problem is that Trump has managed to position himself in such a way that as soon as he is toppled he and all of his supporters can point and say 'look! We were right!! The system is corrupt and denies the democratic will of the people!'
Someone will be along to defend him shortly, won't they?

Morning. You should change your username to mystic meg 🙂
I see the Republicans posted photos of senior Democrats like Pelosi with Russian Ambassador/President Medvedev after they had claimed never to have met them.
I can well believe Trump Tower communications where intercepted. Hackers claimed to have been listening to internet traffic.

It's almost like you say these things purely for effect.
The Trumpette will be along with irrefutable proof, no?
There are systems in place that mean we are all being listenend to. The Doughnut is specifically claiming Obama was bugging him, and you believe this to be true.
Lol de lol lol. 😆

Did they lie during their confirmation hearings - that one is perjury. Why did they feel the need to lie?

Is it legal for a sitting President to be "wire tapping" a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!

It would not be legal for a sitting president to unilaterally order surveillance; a federal court would have to approve the surveillance. Trump seems to acknowledge this in an oblique way, with an allusion to the report that the Fisa court at first turned down an initial request for a warrant.Though Trump claimed he “just found out” about reported surveillance, he is privy to intelligence briefings in which officials would have informed him about such operations. Both Obama and Trump received these briefings during the transition, for instance, reportedly, about an unsubstantiated dossier regarding links between Trump’s campaign and Russian officials.

Some massive key differences there between Obama ordering tapping and somebody doing it isn't there. In fact it's really key to it all, after all what sort of shoddy security does trump have in his place that allows for people to tap his phones.
The question Pelosi answered was if she'd ever met with Kislyak. Not if she'd ever met him.
Where did she claim not to have met the President?
The things with no evidence that you will believe would seem to be a limitless set as you do seem to have a very good imagination .I can well believe Trump Tower communications where intercepted.
Hackers claimed to have been listening to internet traffic.
Well, it's hard to argue with sources as impeccable as that.
