Isn't his high IQ based on the fact that he went to a fancy college, ignoring the fact that he only got in because daddy bunged them a huge amount of money.

'Well he's the president, so he can't be a batshit mental, narcissistic, war mongering, barely literate oaf, and I'm going to believe everything he says, because he's the president'

And don't forget to stand for the anthem or you will be fired as an unpatriotic son of a bitch that doesn't respect freedom.

A lot of his influence on people seems to be because he's the president (obvs)

..and the myth that he's an incredibly successful business man who made a fortune. Neglecting his business failures (Trump Airlines, University etc) and that he actually inherited his money which is a different thing to making it.

This site is a reflection of what I'm seeing on social media - the silence from the pro-Trump brigade of late is deafening. It's as if they've finally realised that their man is a colossal charlatan.

I did have someone pop up the other day to argue that in his opinion, climate science was flawed, but normal sane people aren't even bothering to engage with these cretins anymore.

Had to laugh/SMH at Mike Dikta, Hall of Fame NFL coach who has come out in support on Trump's phoney outrage at NFL players "taking the knee".

He demonstrated his deep understanding of race politics in America by saying:

"All of a sudden, it's become a big deal now, about oppression... There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of."

😯

For the record, Rosa Parks was still being asked to sit in the "colored section" of the bus in 1955!

FCC Commissioner has responded to Trump's tweet threatening NBC's licence by saying:

"Not how it works" and providing a link to the FCC manual 😆

Meanwhile the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), pointed to a federal appeals court decision from 2003 that tackles this subject.

The court decision said:
A public-official defendant who threatens to employ coercive state power to stifle protected speech violates a plaintiff's First Amendment rights, even if the public-official defendant lacks direct regulatory or decision-making authority over the plaintiff or a third party that facilitates the plaintiff's speech.

Putting the arse in farce.

Managed to sit through a flag lowering ceremony, then joke about it. Yes I get that he didn't know the significance but that's no excuse on a military Base where civilians are expected to face the flag with hands on heart. Especially as he's the commander in chief and has been ranting about respecting the flag

Well... things seem to be hotting up.

As I've said before, whats interesting is seeing to point at which people (or groups of people) stop supporting/defending him.

Honestly - given his base demographic, I wonder if he could have handled this any worse. But I suppose the soldier was black (as was his mum, wife, kids and the congresswoman who witnessed the call) so maybe they wont be too upset. In fact, it was probably his own fault he got shot 🙄

Shame there are no trump apologists on this forum to ask.....

More I do not recall from Sessions

The US attorney general, Jeff Sessions, has given a new account of his contacts with the Russian ambassador during the 2016 election, conceding it was possible that they had discussed Donald Trump’s policy positions.

Under intense questioning by the Senate judiciary committee, Sessions departed from his previous blanket denials about contacts with Russian officials, saying he did “not recall” elements of the conversations in three meetings in 2016 with the ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, and conceded for the first time that substantive issues may have been discussed.

The GOP are soon to be embroiled in a bitter civil war for the "soul" (no pun intended) of the party, given that Bannon is calling for replacement of moderate senators with hard-right nut jobs paid for by some very powerful donors.

The Democrats for their part have exploited the tension between the GOP and Trump, they know that stroking Drumpf's ego will be enough to win some key concessions. Mid-term elections aren't far away, the political landscape will change significantly if the ruling party is at war with itself.

Meanwhile, Trump's "plan" seems to be becoming clearer. He seeks to undo everything achieved under Obama, with no regard given to medium to long term planning. It really is that simple.

The thing is, I'm not sure he really knew and understood what he was signing up for when he became POTUS - and still doesn't really know and understand now. I imagine he thought he could be like a dictator and just say 'I want this to happen' and people would get it done, no questions. How many EOs can a president write? As that seems to be the only way he's getting his agenda done.

Agree on pettiness of undoing (or trying to undo) Obama, but he's damaging America and also the world through his actions and tweets (and his family aren't helping... Honestly, if I'd have made that many 'mistakes' on my security forms, I wouldn't be allowed to do my job! And there's also the 'But their emails....', which seems to have died down - MSM keeping it in reserve??)

This. I wouldn't mind so much if there was a deep ideological difference between them, or Donald thought that Obamas policies were in somewhere detrimental to the furtherment of the USA, but it's literally 'he came up with it so I'm stopping it.', as said above with no alternative, not even a crap alternative, just as long as it's not Obamas policy.

Petty child.

Incidentally, I notice that the defenders on here are somewhat subdued of late, are they seeing the error of their ways or have they gone on enforced holidays/simply got bored?

Hilary Clinton mentioned in an interview about the job of POTUS being to unit the country not divide it as trump-breath seems intent on doing. The fact that both his predecessors (Obama and GW Bush) have publicly commented about this despite the protocol of previous incumbents not commenting on their successors should speak volumes.

Trump seems content in playing to his baying supporters rather than reaching out to anyone else.

I think this is why the Reps stuck with Trump: He can play the bad guy, and get rid of everything Obama did, no matter how positive, and the rest of them can sit back and look moderate by comparison. Then, at the next election, one of the "more moderate" Rep candidates will swan in and play the good guy, by which time all the damage will have been done.

he's essentially a Republican patsy.

Yes, it's come to something when GWB is talking sense!

The Democrats must be in a bit of a bind: on the one hand they don't want to see Trump destroying things wholesale but on the other, getting rid of Trump means Pence gets in and he knows how things work and how to push the right (not the red!) buttons to make things happen. Their strategy has to be to let Trump make such a mess that the mid-term elections are a disaster for the GOP and hope they take enough seats to properly control things.

Stalking and harassment (36%)

The thing with Bush was that he's not actually a bad guy, remember this was a man who visited mosques immediately after 9/11 - to unify the country and make American Muslims less fearful.

Bushes problem was that he was naieve when it came to being able to actually help Iraq and Afghanistan.

Have you been in a bunker for a while, this one don't have any wheels, it didn't need them, wheels are so old tech they are not needed in a modern world, the fact they fell off back up there isn't a problem in fact they never existed.

The podcasts are worth a listen too.

I'm not sure he really knew and understood what he was signing up for when he became POTUS

The thing I forget (and I'm not the only one) is that he never expected to be president. The result was a total suprise/shock to both Clinton & Trump.

When he first entered the race to be Republican candidate I very much doubt that actually becoming President was what motivated him or that he gave any thought to what being President meant.

I thought political oppo research (copyright Donnie Jr) was deemed OK these days? Huckabee told me so, I think.

TBH the reputations of the Dems, Trump and GOP (members of which part funded the dossier research when they were still trying to get Jeb Bush elected) are looking a tad threadbare right now.

Wouldn't put it past the Democrats to fluff the Congressional elections next year and leave Trump (well, what's left of the Grand Old Party) still controlling both houses.
