If he cannot handle the media then he is Not up to the job.

By his own admission he was unable to function coherently when under pressure with extremely faulty decision making. For this alone Thrombo (The PM) should sack him as not having the 'right stuff' for the job.

2 things that struck me were the things that he "couldn't remember" :

When he filled up with petrol

And when he told Johnson that he'd made the trip (who also apparently can't remember)

I think he has been much more coherent and calm than many which is a sign that he can handle pressure.

Just keep reading them, after a while your brain kind of glazes over with boredom and automatically blanks them out.

The line about testing his eyesight was an obvious lie though

He's taking everyone in the country for mugs if he thinks anyone buys it

If this is about judgement, the decision to "Do an eye Test" with a 60 mile trip carrying his wife and son certainly calls it into question.

Today he was pushing the "My wife was ill with other non-CV symptoms" line to say they didn't travel whilst symptomatic.

In her article, didn't she write I was ill with CV so Dom rushed home to treat me. He also stated he went back to No10 after looking after her that day!!

Does she drive?

No taxis in Durham so he had to leave isolation to collect her?? NO TAXIS IN A CITY??????

Utter utter tosh.

Didn't he bolt for Durham after Bojo fell ill with Covid? Rat leaving the sinking ship? I reckon he thought Boris was goosed and knew he would be torn apart without his protection so he ran away.

I think he was very obviously vague about where he filled up in case any evidence comes in later, then he can say, Oh... yeah, I remember now.

Whatever happens now, even if he's sacked, resigned or whatever, the government can't backtrack on the message they've been telling us these past few days. We CAN leave the house, and we CAN travel while we're self-isolating with symptoms of covid, and we can use our own judgement on that. The damage is done.

Sir Roger somebody (Tory MP) on R4 earlier said that the 1922 Committee will be trying to remove him based on his actions. If that happens Boris has his get out of jail card. Woe is me.

Still just obfuscation really. Central point was they knew the rules, didn't bother to follow them and got caught. No-one with an analytical mind and a shred of decency would be claiming Childcare is impossible to find in a city of 10 million people. When you're one of the most important people in it.

My money is on the trip being pre-arranged for his wifes birthday and they just went for it, hoping to not get caught.

Well, let’s see what’s said in about 10 mins time...

So yesterday Boris said the other sightings of Dom were "palpable mistruths" yet today it seems they were accurate.
And when Dom was testing his eyesight he remembered one guy out of all the others who he saw at Barnard Castle as having recognised him. PLUS having to stop to let his child out of the car as he was feeling sick it was at a spot lots of others visit and yes, he DID see others in the distance.
He sure did his homework.

I’ve emailed my Tory yes man MP for the third time in three days.

The text is below if anyone wants to adapt it, be careful though, it refers to previously sent emails. My MP seems to want to portray himself as an educated man, so I thought I would press those buttons. Anyone else whose MP has Oxbridge colleges on their CV might want to do similar....

Dear Xxxxxx,

I am writing to you again in your capacity of MP for XXXX and Minister of State for XXXX <delete if not needed> to ask that you please write to Boris Johnson requesting the sacking of Dominic Cummings.

This email is going to be shorter than the ones below because I have said all I need to in detail there. I assume you will have watched Mr Cummings’ frankly outrageous press conference, maybe through your fingers or from behind a sofa(?)

Before deleting this email or disregarding it, please ask yourself one question, bearing in mind that press conference.

Do you as a minister of state, and graduate in XXXX from XXXX College XXXX believe all of that?

Credibility is an important asset in public life.

Please ensure my name and email address are not shown on any forwarded or reproduced versions of this email.

It made me feel about 0.000001% better.

There are some FB ‘friends’ being twunts and trying to defend Cummings. Looks like my Christmas card list is going to be getting shorter...

I’ve also written to my MP and included the following:
I am writing to you as my representative to express how appalled I was to learn that despite his ignoring the rules governing the lockdown (the very rules that he helped to devise) your government has decided not only that Mr Cummins' actions were legal and responsible, but that they were done “with the overwhelming aim of stopping the virus and saving lives.”

I am sure that key workers in the health service, social care and the police will be surprised to learn that they’ve been doing it wrong all the time, and instead of turning up for work with the aim of stopping the virus and saving lives, all they need to have done was drive up and down the A1 a few times with the added bonus that they could have called in on their nearest and dearest along the way

He thinks he’s the Prime Minister.

Based on the last two days, I think he thinks he's our Glorious Leader. And he may be right.

Hard line by Boris on “the rules”, then immediately hoofed in the slats by Laura at the Beeb.

Boris says he was busy, didnt notice Cummings activity.

Did Boris just take his glasses from his outside jacket pocket and put them back inside the jacket?

Props at the ready. I wonder where he's hiding the kids bike, I know where I'd like to hide it.

In the last of the 3 missives I've sent to Gove in the last couple of days I've asked him to reply to me in BIG PRINT as my eyesight is giving me concern and I'm about to check it by driving down the motorway for a a while just to check it.

yep. “Make their own minds up “ and “member of my staff”.   Sounds to me like hes told him before the Garden party to sort his own mess out and now Boris will let the 1922 committee decide.

Due to overrunning press conferences BBC One have rescheduled programmes.

Replaced by 'Would I Lie to You?'

Now that is good!

Is there a way to find out who provides DCs car insurance? I wonder how they feel about him driving with questionable eyesight…? I would have thought he was effectively driving uninsured?

(It also says a lot about attitudes to driving in this country that he thought “testing his eyesight” by putting himself in charge of 2 tonnes of machinery and then doing 27 miles in 30 minutes on the public road would be an acceptable excuse)

A lot of fallout for Suella Braverman, the Attorney General, about her support for Cummings yesterday as it undermines the independence of the role - https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/may/25/attorney-general-faces-calls-to-resign-defends-dominic-cummings-suella-braverman

Again a misjudgement by Boris and Dom not to resign/be sacked, as the impact of the story is spreading further across the Government at the most critical period in history since WW2, and at a time when they have been rightly criticised for their numerous failures in attempting to deal with the pandemic. Public perception and image are far more important than facts in politics, something Domn has built his career on and why we are now facing Brexit, so they both must undertsand than public perception in this instance is demanding action not excuses!

So Brexit means Brexit but Stay at home means drive 300 miles to see your folkes, and then another 30 for a nice day out at the castle. Right, got it.

I have one and can confirm he'd have had to fill up at least once as the tank is tiny. 350 miles at best if brimmed, low 30's mpg (providing it's 4x4).

How would I make a police complainant about a man who went on national television and admitted to having vision problems and going for a 30 minute drive to test his eyes?
