If if says dogs on leads why can't the owners comply. Is it really that difficult, and if you can't be bothered to walk the 500 yards to the dog exercise area can you please pick up its faeces. No capitals no spellings cos I can't be bothered.

Dog owners being inconsiderate?

Surely not?

I’ll keep that in mind.

Campers are grumpy.

They are when your friends daughter gets liberally coated in crap because another responsible owner couldn't be bothered to pick up. Thought better of you.

No. I'm sorry but I've had enough of the my dogs great brigade when he sneaks off and pisses all over someone's tent, and yeah ive seen it happening. On a lead means on a lead simple.

You never meet a dog owner who admits to leaving tu4ds, yet they're everywhere.. ...

Because you notice the bad dogs, well behaved dogs go unnoticed. Just like all cyclists jump red lights.

Not true. Several of my customers have well behaved dogs. That's not the point is it. One pile of crap spreads a long way and it's one pile too many.

I love dogs. You can forgive them laying the odd turd and pissing on tents. Tents are waterproof. And dogs are always smiling. Unlike grumpy campers.

The problem isn't genuinely responsible dog owners.
The problem is that there aren't as many of them as you think.

The amount of people who think it's fine to let their dog shit just off the path in parks is now totally out of control.
You can't let kids go running around in the woods in any park I know anymore.
Avenham Park in Preston is the worst - on a hot day, it stinks.
Retrieving a ball that's ended up in the little gullies either side of the main paths is just horrible - dog shit, bagged and unbagged, is everywhere.

Sorry, but the increase in dog ownership means that the rest of us have to suffer.

Sadly, human nature means that very, very few dog owners ever accept responsibility. They are all perfect in their own eyes and justify their selfish behaviour.

You can't forgive your little fur baby for pissing on someone else's tent. Keep it on a lead and it can piss on your tent. How hard is it.

Most are responsible are we would be treading  non stop in turds, tents would be floating down the field in a river of dog piss and no child would have a face.

Sadly, human nature means that very, very few dog owners ever accept responsibility.

Bollocks

It’s the sheep I hate. Just wandering around the fields, shitting and pissing everywhere. All while the owners are swanning about in their fancy 4x4’s.

OK.
Let's see how many on this thread do so.

Did you read my post?
The use of urban parks is being compromised by dog owners, whether you like it or not.

Every dog owner is responsible when you talk to them. It's always someone else. Only its not. The crap comes from somewhere. And ive had to point this out to my own mates who's trail dogs have dropped one in the middle of the trail.

Yes. Compromise really?

Yes, really.

The bits of woodland, where kids like to play, on either side of the main paths are no go areas for small children now.

We see dog owners failing to pick up from these areas every single day, as we like to use the park.
Very, very rarely do we see anyone venture off the path to pick up.

As the majority of people we now see in the park have dogs, the problem has grown massively.

It has become such a problem we can't let the grand kids go running around and playing in the wooded areas now.

Sorry, but that's the way it is.

Ha, the tourists I met on my walk today couldn't give me a wider berth as I was picking up after my dog, I wasn't going to shake their hands 😉

Meh!
Had 5 dogs with me at the caravan this weekend. No issues.

Most annoying thing is campers with guitars.

As someone who remembers a childhood before the bag it and bin it era of dog ownership I am going with the view that substantially more owners pick up than don't but like RLJ cyclists of you don't like dogs and dog owners you only notice the numpties.

Generally there's less turds lying around on pavements and fields than there was when I was a kid - people MOSTLY do the right things.

Lots of dogs on our campsite in the summer. One was a bit prone to a runabout but I'd have rather had him urinating on my tent than the neighbors we had on the previous year's trip effing and jeffing at midnight every night about the electric pump and the airbed and the yelling at each other before breakfast or the T6 party circle of wagons with their stereos that would make a Disaster Area concert seem quite relaxing and no heed for social distancing.

Some people are not good at sharing space and don't get camping etiquette and some of them own dogs.

Yes, I know.
Just try and see things from a different point of view.

I love my daughter's dogs, and our friends' dogs.
But even they make excuses.
And it's now reached the stage where it's ruining urban green spaces for everyone.

Generally there’s less turds lying around on pavements and fields than there was when I was a kid – people MOSTLY do the right things.

In the 70's and 80's it was awful. As was littering in general.
Things got better, but the huge rise in dog ownership and the social acceptability of not clearing up mean it's now worse than it ever was.

I think it’s quite legitimate, if someone gets a guitar out on a campsite, to smash it into tiny pieces then burn them

And so in true STW tradition a dog shitting on a campsite is now the fault of the hippie playing a guitar. Really do you always excuse your personal faults by highlighting others.

As it goes I was chatting to a dog walker this morning on the narrow path this side of Aberdour when an absolute penis lycra clad **** came past with inches to spare. Pretty common occurrence tbh.

Cool story bro etc etc

Anyway, top marks always go to guitar w*nkers

Some are terrible owners but it’s a minority.

Dog hating threads are becoming boring.

No one has said they hate dogs.
So well done for getting that one in, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

What's becoming very, very tedious indeed is the refusal of owners to take responsibility.

And your inability to accept someone else's experience as true, or even acknowledge the possibility that it could be a problem is telling.

plus Dogs on Beaches - WTF!

Why are they entitled to run around pooing everywhere; pissing on sand castles; frightening children; kicking sand into and trying to eat the picnic, consistently yapping and barking at each other and fighting!

It really is awful, if I did it I would be arrested. What is the attraction of letting your dog run around wild and out of control over having it on a lead at your side? If you like something keep it close surely?

“ plus Dogs on Beaches – WTF!”

+1

The only thing I can think is that when you get a dog you must have to sign some agreement to stop giving a rats ass about anyone but yourself and also to defend all other dog owners even if they are clearly in the wrong. Happens out in the countryside and on here too.

This reminds me of a few years back on the campsite at ardrock, one utter waste of spunk who had half a dozen huskies, ****in things howled constantly, chained up the whole time, and each one dug a hole you could hide Gemma Collins in by the end of the weekend.

Complete bellend. 😂
