I know a lot of people are ambivalent about this issue but why should the government be allowed to sell off something that we as a nation own when we gave them no mandate to sell (it was never mentioned in there manifesto) I've seen many sell off's of our asset's over the years and no one can convince they have ever been in the interest of the common man, we should be worried about this and be doing what we can to stop it imho,
Mark.

Welcome to the party.

Irrespective of the arguments about who should be managing forests, monoculture versus mixed woodland etc, it does seem to be an especially dumbass move by the ConDems. It might even spell the end of a few careers (Mark Harper, I'm looking at you...).

Yep - we definitely needed another thread on this topic.

It must be Groundhog Day right enough

Hardly surprising ...........it would have cost them votes. And they certainly would not have got "extra" votes, had they mentioned it.

Eton educated upper-class toffs are not necessarily always stupid you know.
