Eh?
It says "cakes"
No ,we can't get The Birmingham Mail in Somerset!!
Tsk, should be "Cocks"
๐
Ye ould cockes?
It's the un-necessary apostrophes that are doing my nut in!
I've never seen an "a" written like that...or is it just me?
"Coffee-Teoc to GO" anyone?
Whats Togo got to do with it ?
They do 3 bottles of Stowells wine for a tenner, dunno about the cocks tho, I'll ask next time Im in
That's in the village I was brought up in!
It was our local local Post Office and grocery store. I remember being pulled on a sledge by my Dad down St Catherines Road (where we lived) to the shop for various groceries. That was in 1963 and I was only 3 at the time. It's a memory that has always stayed with me. They didn't sell cocks, but were one of the last shops that would sell you an ounce of sugar ๐
Years later, I'm living in the Scottish Borders, a long way from North Worcestershire.

My missus works for the Mail. Wonder if they know your shop are selling cokes under the BM banner.
Such caring people. I love the way they aim to meet the physical, intellectual and intimate needs of their customers. They should be in the New Year's Honours List.
i'd rather be in the scottish borders!

Its the Greek lower case letter alpha which is the equivalent to 'a' so it is correct, sort of.
That would be an alpha, which is essentially a greek(?) "a", from which our A's came.
