Yep about my thoughts there DezB but at least we have blamed strava, ebikes, threatened to jump on his head etc so everyone can feel better about it.

At least it wasn’t a horse he hit

I probably should have added a smillie! 😆

As a non procreater here....

Guy commits to a stupid inside cheeky pass of a group, as he does kid wanders into view. He isn't going to stop, kid isn't going to get out of the way.

Unfortunate collision takes place where bike is hit, bloke is at fault.

Hops off a little wall and basically lands on the girl.

Man does not land on the girl, so unless basically means doesn't then have another watch.

Back to work everybody, somebody get the kid an ice cream or something. Everyone else off to see teenrats neighbour for a few tokes of some calm down

To be honest, sure he clips the bike and not the girl herself but i'm fairly sure the bike catches the girl by the pedals which causes her to fall over.

I'd be hesitant to say 'she just stumbles'

Through my vast experience of clipping myself by the pedals and falling off my bike I can verify it does hurt, must hurt doubly so for the wee girl.

Go on then, how would you describe making contact with her just as his front wheel reaches the ground?

You can replace "basically" with "almost" if it calms down your inner pedant

😂😂😂

<pedant mode> ‘basically’ means does, and ‘almost’ means doesn’t. I don’t think pedant is the work you were looking for... probably ‘accurate’ would be more, err, accurate. <\pedant>

shit riding, no one seriously hurt, shit rider got a bit of a scare and rode away sharpish from an (understandably) angry man who initially chased him then remembered his priorities. I’d say all was right in the world, tbh.

Douch move.

When I look deep inside my soul would I have stopped after turning around to see irate father running at me and clearly angry enough that this was his first reaction rather than check his child was ok. I hope I would, I really hope I would. But would I - not 100% sure.

Basically, no. The law recognises that piloting a bike (even an ebike) has far less potential to cause harm and damage than a motorbike or car and thus there are only a very small set of circumstances where one would need to stop - cyclists (and pedestrians) aren't obliged to exchange any details at the scene of an accident by default.

I would imagine fearing a beating would be an appropriate defence even if he had been obliged to stop.

(He shouldn't have done it, should've been more careful, but everybody has lapses in judgement, lucky his was on a bike rather than in/on a motorised vehicle.)

If the rider was using strava and stupid enough not to of deleted his ride then it may be possible to find him.

This segment ends where he knocked her off.

https://www.strava.com/segments/4685521

A quick look filtered by 2018 shows it was ridden a few times on that day but I cant find how to check what time they started/ended the segment and haven’t got time to look at the moment.

Anyone else fancy looking? The incident took place on the 8/07/18 at 01:03:57pm according to the security camera

Hmm not so sure. To be honest I think you'd have a better chance of catching who it is by looking at whoever rode through this segment...

https://www.strava.com/segments/18200648

...and that camera footage stops at a key moment. If it showed which direction the cyclist turned at the junction that would help.

I don’t think this guy has his ride set to public on Strava. Those that have didn’t pass through the section at the time of the incident. That's unless the time on the camera is wrong.

Further analysis of the incident:

I also deduce that he may have been caught out by the appearance of the antiques and other random knick-knacks scattered along the path outside the warehouse.

Going too fast for his skill level / conditions, disregard for the environment and other trail users, collateral damage - bang to rights e-biker.

He may not have been riding his e-bike in this instance, admittedly.

There was a group of people gathered. I gave her a drink and a bowl of water and we mopped her wounds. They were just grazes but she was very upset.

A bowl of water? Is she a pet dog!?

So we can sum him up as bike-curios?

Well, obviously he would have cleared the little girl effortlessly if he was on his e-bike.

Mountains and molehills here isn't it.

Guy makes a bad move on his bike, entirely his fault. He clips a wee girl on a bike due to said move. He then rides off, a dick move but somewhat understanding if he felt like he was going to get a kicking. The girl will have a scuffed knee and a bruise or 2, no other harm is done. Neither the father of the girl or the biker come across well.

A lot of being made of what is a really minor incident IMO.

Is is some pretty piss poor reporting. The article says the family were cycling not pushing their bikes among other things.

seems to be a fantastic stealth add for the shop...

on the plus side the next time I get clipped by a car I shall expect the same level of indignation just prior to the public lynching.

Dick move but non story

Am I the only one who see the little girl change direction last minute causing the accident? Yes the guy was being a bit of a dick going a little fast but is committed to the wall, when the girl moves into his exit line. It was an accident, these things happen.

Really???

He's bombing along a low wall, with a family in front of him. He pulls a wheelie at speed to drop off the wall and near as dammit smashed into a little girl.

As soon as he saw the family he should have slowed. I can't believe that anybody would be stupid enough to pull a manoeuvre like that near children. I can't believe that anybody would do that and then be enough of a c*** to ride off (I think that's the right number of stars) and I can't believe that anybody on here would feel it is remotely appropriate to defend that type of behaviour.

And yet I managed to ride along and drop off the same wall the day before on an Ebike without running into anyone.

Goes off to find out when the SantaCruzE is being unveiled.

Never thought they'd leak spy shots of it that were taken just off the cut in Stourbridge.

Didn't you see the ebiker check his live Strava segment as he ran over the child's face?

Reminds me, I really need to sneak down there with a pot of white paint and cover up the ‘C’ and ‘S’ on the road sign
