For me, its the sheer sillyness of the posts that keep me hooked...people's warped sense of humour, the silly squabbles, the outspoken. Oh....and theres a bit to do with actually riding too....what more do you want?

You don't get that 😯 Happens every time I log in 🙂 I hear you get a higher class of raunchiness if you go premium but can't confirm. I'd have to upgrade and send these ones back to find out!

I used to ask work related questions on here eg about Autocad, or Excell etc but IT block it these days.

In the early days of my joining STW, it was useful in gaining product information for my numerous bike builds over the years.

How else would I have found out that trail centres were for lameosaurs, the BMW 335d was the only car worth driving and that revolutionary socialism was the right direction for Britain in 2010?

You won't get that on Mumsnet!

Don't forget that there's a baby womble on the way to Leamington too!

STW knows everything about everything plus if you want, you can poke fun at the ridiculous stuff that goes on inside it and get in pointless arguments and best of all, the STW forum is something you can laugh at continually.

It's the Richard Madeley of the internet.

Try upgrading to Premium membership. Access to the back catalogue isn't the only benefit.

EDIT: "back catalogue" isn't a euphemism btw.

Useful for some bike questions. There are a lot of people who seem to know every model variation of every fork for the last ten years or so 😯

On the other hand, there are a few too many people on here who seem to be suffering from an over estimation of their abilities alongside a lot of time to spend here 😆

It's great for venting my middle class middle aged angst..

I love that nearly everybody that uses the forum feels comfortable enough to show their inner Tory with gay and reckless abandon..

I found STW by googling a bike related query but since finding the site I have lost interest in cycling and have sold my bikes so that I can spend more time on here..

I'm actually a nubile 16 year old nymphomaniac who's only on here grooming overweight, bald middle-aged bike nerds with right wing leanings

Binners - interested in non overweight, bald middle-ages bike nerds with no political leanings?

Thought not.

this site provides me with much amusement, all you oldies make me laugh when you argue

[img] [/img]

lots of people trying to be better than each other
lots of people spouting googles top answers as their own knowledge/opinion
lots of useful advice that gets forgotten when people start fighting over opinions
some very funny people
some epic trolling (mr nutt i still salute you)

its like watching 16 year olds get upset on facebook or back in the day when "top friends" on myspace was more important than life itself.

great fun, the moment i start taking it seriously or stop laughing then i hope i realise and take myself away.

I sometimes wonder how much more productive I'd be if it wasn't for STW. Then I remember there's the rest of the Internet.

Then I remember there's the rest of the Internet.

This morning I twigged that Google Chrome is the most spectacular unproductivity tool there is. Every time you open a new tag, it gives you 8 thumbnails of your most visited websites. Sods law dictates that this ends up being forums, facebook, newspapers, ebay, CRC, so every time you set off to do something, it's effectively asking "Would you like to waste some time?"

Until I came on here I never knew how awesome a BMW 335d was - so that alone has made it all worth while....

God love binners, tears in my eyes 🙂

This forum was good, when Cressers still posted on here.

I have to admit though, I do look here for info on mortgages, washing machines, cars and barely ever bikes!

I've been stuck working at home for the last week after an operation, and it amazes me that anybody actually does any work at all in the STW community. Everybody seems to be permanently logged on, that said all week I've had 2 laptops flashed up on the kitchen table, one for work one for play.

It's good, but it would be better if there weren't so many people who are wrong on so many subjects.
I simply haven't got time to correct them all.

I find it useful, you've helped me with numerous bike queries.

I find it amusing too, and comforting and, when folks who are close to the edge have posted, the support they have received is heartwarming - mostly, there are a few spiteful people on but not many.

That could just as easily describe any pub in the country.

The actual STW mag doesn't make particularly good emergency loo paper. A sotfer, matt, lighter weight paper would help.

I've answered other peoples questions very well in the past so it's certainly helpful for other people. Guess I'm just here because of my charitable good spirit! 😉

twitter

ebay
