Need/want to buy a kindle, but as its on a loooong, fairly expensive shopping list, I'd rather buy a discounted one... Only thing is, I need it in the next 6 weeks. Just the basic one, I reckon!

Do they ever get discounted on amazon?

Thanks!

Does it have to be a kindle or are other vendors an option? I've used kobos for years, and they sell reconditioned ones for around 20% less than new: https://uk.kobobooks.com/collections/certified-refurbished-ereaders

[edit]Ignore me - they all show as sold out[/edit]

You can use the Camel camel camel pricetracker to look at historic Amazon prices and to set a price watch alert. Shows that the Kindle is reduced to £50 most months.

Or stick the Kindle App on your phone for free.

If you've got a nectar card you can use nectar points to buy a Kindle through Argos.

Thanks all - seems they do!

Yep, kindle preferred, and non-app version 🙂

They tend to discount when there's a new generation due out. I got my current waterproof Paperwhite for £69.99 last June, the indistinguishable (to me at least) replacement is currently £119.99 so I guess the base model for £50 isn't out of the question.

They sometimes have them discounted in Amazon Warehouse Deals.

I use a PocketBook Touch. Lets you use books of all formats from any source. Much more flexible.

Whatever you get - get a waterproof one!
