Not guilty. Another high profile witch hunt comes to end in a not guilty. I'm no fan of DLT, but these historical rape/sexual assault trials are beginning to look a bit ridiculous, surely more convictions are going to be needed or serious questions need to be asked with regards the allegations being made and certainly the cost to the taxpayer...

It all goes via the CPS first who believe there is enough evidence to take it to court.

I can see them getting a bit more stringent with the evidence required and it's perceived authenticity.

No, failed to reach a verdict on 2 counts, so there may be a retrial.

On the other hand it isn't always possible to know in advance what the result will be. No point in having trials if there is never any not guilty verdicts.

Or the English could go the SNP route and change centuries old rules of law to try and increase the conviction rate. Though a higher conviction rate may mean an increase in wrongful convictions.

Tough as it is I'd rather have 10 sex offenders get away with it than one innocent man be wrongly convicted.

😀

The outcome shouldn't determine whether this goes ahead or not. However, if the CPS is bringing cases when they shouldn't be, that would be a different matter.
