Q1: My bath taps came with a gasket that sealed between the tap and the bath which has worked brilliantly for years.
I've disturbed it and it leaks now.
I'd rather not use "squeezy sealant" because it's a bit of a messy faff.
Is there a generic material I can fashion a new 'gasket' from, or a nicer solution than squeezy bathroom sealant?
Q2: For a different job: Someone once recommended me some exterior sealant that was waterproof and also glued anything to anything outside. I bought some and it worked a treat. Anyone know what that was likely to be?
old school car shop should have sheets of gasket material you can cut one from but sealant will work fine. Just don't put too much on so it squeezes out when you clamp it down

Smooth it with a wet finger. No mess. No faff.
sealant will work fine
It will but when I come back to in in a few years it'll be gunky. Using just the gasket it's all lovely and clean.
A bit of old inner tube will work a treat...

Closed cell foam sealant tape?? You can get double-sided, consider single-sided for later disassembly
For the latter - CT1 sealant. Does what you say - sticks stuff together, is waterproof, is very good at what it does. Don't get it on your best jeans.
Nearly forgot Q2... CT1 or Sumogrip
out of breath - a thin bead of sealant under the tap not squeezed into the gap - it will be invisible
