Thats cheap promotion for a company like Renault getting a product on a high rating tv show. Rip Ross we hardly knew ye, cant help think some of the other tests might be livened up by a sarky celeb in the boot.

they don't do any of the risky driving and drive for very little of the big 'adventures' they do. There is just an army of stig/stunt/contract/race drivers that do it

It made the papers at the time (more in the Irish papers than here to be fair), they fired it off the ramp using some sort of catapult system. Bit of clever editing and it looks like JC drove it off there.

the ferry stunt wasn't even clever editing

anyone could make a stunt like that look realistic with a mobile phone and a rope

The engine noise that SeaCat makes is awesome.

That's not a SeaCat, it's a Stena HSS.

Sheesh.

Not to be a killjoy or anything but i work for a council and have dealt with requests from film makers to chuck cars etc in rivers and docks.

It doesnt happen!! the "car-shaped object" that they chuck off the pier is a mock up made of non-toxic materials which is then quickly recovered.

The environment agency would never allow it, due to petrol / oil / etc etc being put in the water

they use 'shells' for stunt's like this, anything containing fluids/hazardous materials etc is stripped out.

i've hung a few of them from the roof of the NEC as well.

that's if they get permission as enduro says above.

it's often cheaper to do that than pay for CGI or get a model knocked up that will stand the rigours of an every more geaky HD'd up audience.

cars cost jack all to make so manufacturers will happily toss a few into the sea to get free marketing ๐Ÿ™‚

on the up side we had an Aston DBS for a job on saturday and due to not being able to push them because of some transmission doobery we got to rev the bollocks off it in a small loading bay

I did a sex wee in my pants and i'm not even a big car fan
