After a replacement desktop, got all peripherals, just for basic web surfing and the like. Dont need MS office, just the OS.

Cheaper the better- any good buys out there?

Novatech do base units in different stages of completion, with or without OS

Should be able to get dual core, 4GB, 500GB for close to 200 with no OS

I bought a new pc recently. Novatech are no longer such a good deal. I would recommend aria.co.uk or palicomp.co.uk

If you just want a basic system what about a refurb?

If its just for basic surfing, get a laptop?

We went for one after our last desktop 'crashed', so much better to surf in the front room with the family - well, for most things 😉

Check ebuyer out for base units, certainly you get a lot more for your money than anywhere else I can find...

£250 gets you a Pentium 3.2 Dual Core with 500Gig HD and windows 7 64 bit preinstalled. Or the same machine without an OS (if you've got your own to install) for £189... Think you'd struggle to beat that personally, even building yourself using the cheapest components you could find.
