Have used Feathers for about a year and they are great but sometimes a bit too sharp. What other DE blades do you use? I have also tried Derbys, 7 o'clock and Astras. The Astras werent too bad.

I really like feathers, but I find they can be a bit harsh by the end of the week, particularly around my neck.

7 o'clocks are really good too and are a pretty decent balance between sharpness and comfort.

I tend to use a feather, and then if my neck becomes a bit too sensitive through the week, I'll swap it out for a 7 o'clock.

having tried loads over the last few years Ive decided not to bother with anything but feathers.

Fortunately I use a Merkur Progress with adjustable head and while for other blades might have set it to 2.5/5 with the feathers I can set it to a shandy-drinking 1/5 and still get a perfect shave with no pulling.

As for most comparable, I found the unbranded israeli blades at shaving shack closest. Merkur own blades were like shaving with a brick. 7 oclocks and derbies OK, but nothing to write home about.

Shark super chrome. Smooth like feathers but not as sharp and half the price. But I still tend to swap them every 3 shaves

You might want to try Israeli Personna blades as they are rather good. Might not be as sharp as Feathers but good enough to give me BBS. I also rotate with 7 O'clock yellow and green. Think yellow is better. Recently I received one sample pack of Gillette Rubie platinum plus from a friend in Russia so will need to try that out to see how good it is.

Got plenty of Sputnik too ...

Just feather here, but I only get three shaves out of a blade and I don't have the thickets of stubble. Perhaps I'm just sensitive...

now I know how my wife feels if I start talking about bicycle bits.

I use Wilkinson Sword two blade disposables and they last me about 6 weeks each. Am I a bad person?

I've tried most, didn't like 7 o'clocks and quite like Israeli but now only use Feathers since I got my Merkur 39c (slant blade). Best combination for me and surprisingly easy to use with no irritation whatsoever.

Haven't used a standard DE for months now, it's that good 😀

Kinda, you're like the guy who turns up at a trail center with an Argos BSO and tells everyone that it's just a bike why would you spend £xxx on it?

Cuthroat = track bike
Cuthroat with disposable blades = fixie
safety rasor = singlespeed
merkur progress = dinglespeed/flip-flop

Gillette Mach 5 = IBIS Mojo on the back of an A4 S-line estate driven by a fat bloke.

Seems to depend on the razor a lot but after a selection pack I settled on the Astra Platinum for the best combination of close shave/lack of razor burn/lack of blood.

I found some, like the 7 o'clocks to be a bit of a bloodbath. But others rate them highly, personal preference/technique obviously has a big influence as well as the razor. Mine is a Merkur Futur and I leave it on the 2nd setting.

working from home means never having to apologise for the lacklustre results of using my Razor Shaped Object 😉

Merkur Futur, #2, Gilette 7s - perfect
It all depends on you, there is no right or or wrong answer (apart from electric)

I just don't shave (as often as I should), found that safety razors are much more forgiving of this than disposables as they don't clog. I think this makes me one of those people who occasionaly rides bikes and has a singlespeed, so is permentantly useless on group rides and holds everyone up whilst telling them I use the singlespeed as it's good for fitness. Which is worryingly close to my riding too!

I really don't know how some of you managed to cut yourself with DE safety razor 😯 , as the most I get is just slight nick due to shaving in a hurry by not flattening the skin under my chin properly  .

I think my DE safety razor blades can last me for at least 5 years easy as I bought so many different brands just to try them out. However, I have not tried Feathers yet which I will once I bought their Stainless Steel Safety Razor ... £150 that. Then perhaps reduce all my spare blades ... probably sell it for 50p/pack to you lot.
