Couple of his shows on BBC2 now.
Just watched a very good profile of him too, well worth catching on the iPlayer.
Seemed like a very decent, as well as a very funny man.
Really enjoyed the profile program, like you say seemed like a nice bloke with a healthy distrust of those who court power.
Dave Allen was an incredibly funny man, with a very irreverent style of humour, certainly one of my absolute favourite comedians.
Sadly missed.
I recorded it all. The blokes a genius! It always reminds me of being a kid. My dad would watch him all the time, literally crying laughing!
He is one of my great comedy heroes, only caught the end of that profile show but will watch it on iplayer.
I hadn't realised it was a contract clause that his shows couldn't be repeated, which seems such a waste.
I remember the fuss about that gag about being given a clock when you retire. I also seem to remember his show was the first time I saw a topless woman on British telly - I was at an impressionable age. Think it was a sketch where two old men have a duel by getting a woman to undress till one of them dies of a heart attack
