We will be in touch
staying on the damp theme...
My cellar has always been a bit damp, to the extent that things like drill bits rust pretty quickly when left on the floor. Ive not really been to bothered in the past and made sure the bikes are hanging up off the floor. However Im beginning to notice that perhaps bearings etc are seeming to sieze a little quicker than they should.
Anyone got any experience of damp prevention in cellars. Obviously the best solution would be to tank the cellar completely, buut I guess less drastic measures may also exist, the simplest being just installing an extractor fan?
We are just having our cellar tanked at the minute... well not tanked but lined, I can't remember what they call it off the top of my head.
Tanking is not very good or so everone who quoted us said, eventually the sealent on the walls leaks and your back to square one.
If its onyl air damp you need a dehumidifier to start with, but it will never solve the problem....
yeh from what I understand you can either tank it - ie a pressurised system as damp will build up behind. Or just put in a mebrane and let the water collect behind this and pump it out.
