[Closed] Cyclocross Advice - Which category should I enter?

So I'm going to have a crack at the Preston Cyclocross Race tomorrow for the sole reason I've not done one before. I'm doing it on my mountain bike. Question is should I enter novice category or the category for my age? I originally thought my age cat, but then I thought I could just end up getting in the way. That said, I mountain bike frequently, so would it be unfair to enter novice?

Age cat every time - probably a longer race duration, no one will mind lapping you (and you will be, our league winners lap into the top ten most weeks) and you will find someone to race against.

The one advantage of the novice race is that course will be less muddy (first race of the day).

Otherwise I'd say age cat - you'll still have the youths zipping past if you do the novice race ๐Ÿ™‚

You won't get in the way and will always end up racing somebody. See you there - which category?

I'm 44 so veteran I think.

Mud? No-one mentioned anything about mud. 😀

Most of this forum is in NW vet 40..... Plenty of people to hide amongst.

I'm on the stupid looking home made orange bike with Pace fork.

Black Stumpjumper with inappropriate tyres (for riding in muddy fields). :). See you there.
