One of our charming local landowners has recently erected deer fencing each side of a footpath which crosses his parkland (I would say how he made his money but you probably get the picture).

Apart from being obnoxious to the local community it gives the path a certain concentration camp chique.  I'm seriously thinking about adding to this with a 'Gehen macht frei' sign on the gate but don't feel the need for revenge strongly enough to cut out individual letters by hand.  Any suggestions on a reasonably easy way to do this?

If you can create a DXF file, get it laser cut. I use Premier laser for one offs at work and they are excellent. There are loads of other online laser cutters.

What about painting it on a scrap of ply or something and wiring it to the fence?

He has gone to so much bother making other people's lives just that bit more miserable that it seems a shame not to do it properly (the path cuts the park in half, putting fencing both sides of it makes farming or deer keeping impractical to one section. So it's been done out of pure spite)

That might just work, although 6mm steel is a tad overkill

What about using "Jedem Das Seine", from Buchenwald camp?
Literal translation is along the lines of "we get what we deserve".

Don’t do it, that’s a massive taste failure. A trip along it with wire snippers might be a better response.

‘Gehen macht frei’

Just don't. If I was walking along a path where someone had erected a sign like that I'd rip it down myself.

Complain to the council rights of way officer if he's restricting access. Otherwise it's his own money he's wasting.

Half thought about offering to do it for you but then thought, nah it’s not a great idea. Planting flowers on the other hand would be nice?
