Does anyone know a good practitioner in Leeds to see for CBT for PTSD? Thanks

Can't help with a specific answer but I noticed no one else did so at least this will bump it up.

Two useful resources are

https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/drugs-and-treatments/cognitive-behavioural-therapy-cbt/finding-a-therapist/#.Wxp-JmaotQs

and (if you are lucky enough to have cover)

https://finder.bupa.co.uk/

Plenty of councillors post up a CV/Bio on their sites. A recommendation from one person may not be good for some one else. It is a wierd situation, you'll probably touch on some uncomfortable subjects with a stranger. Worth having a look at the person and seeing if they seem right.

Good luck, hope you are ok.

Can’t help with Leeds but check with your former employer if it was a work issue they may have counselling services they use, see your GP either but most importantly seek the help you’re looking for it really does help.

I asked around at work and Lucy Frank in Horsforth was recommended.

Its not a personal recommendation as such, but a client of one of my work colleagues used her and was very pleased with the results.

Thanks for your help, I have found out that my employer will support some sessions via a external company (my employer was not the cause of the PTSA), so will see what that entails. There does not appear to be a trip advisor of therapists so was just wondering if anyone had any personal recommendation! It seems like a minefield.

Mrs was taught by this guy at Leeds Beckett. Apparently he'll fit the CBT + PTSD requirement and takes on private clients but I can't find any private practice contact details for him, but they shouldn't be hard to track down. Ping me on here or via profile if you need further assistance.

I was going to suggest work based - lots of big orgs provide - glad you're are now sorted through that route

Another option is IAPT - which is self referral to NHS psychological therapy. I have no dieect experience of this service so don't know if it would be appropriate for PTSD but worth looking at the link not least because it's NHS...

Slightly off thread, for my post trauma treatment I had EMDR,

https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/emdr.html

very good at getting rid of the nightmares / flashbacks. Hard treatment, dry heaving into the therapists waste bin on a few occasions but did help a lot. Just doing a spot of CBT now following a slight relapse

Daniel mcDermid at Leeds’s hypnotherapy clinic on York St (centre of Leeds) was great with someone I know very well

Thanks to everyone of you. I really appreciate all these helpful replies. I will have a look into your suggestions. The wait for nhs services is upwards of 6 months.
