Just read the comments on the photo's link,& it is infact lake Geneva.

I'm guessing the hedge didn't cop it a it's the result of waves being blown onto the street and freezing, and the hedges were out of range...?

The photos actually show lake spray accumulation on the cars.
Lake Geneva doesnโ€™t freeze, and the spray from the lake lands on the cars and benches and freezes on them. Itโ€™s too bad for the car owners, but they should probably know better.
An indicator that the ice is definitely NOT from precipitation is the buildings in the background of the photosโ€“notice that they donโ€™t have any ice on them.

Yup, I was there on my honeynoon 12 yrs ago (yikes!), it wasn't as bad as in the pics but the trees were covered and benches near the edges. Mainly caused by the abrupt vertical banks of the lake making the waves shoot up in the air, making a fine mist which freezes easily, looked really funky! will have to find a pic I took.
