Bosch with a lithium battery and find an independent supplier of blades that fit.

Do you have other cordless tools?

The Makita one I have was about £65 (bare) and takes the same batteries as my drill, circular saw, hedge trimmer, etc - much easier with one charger and a few high capacity batteries. Ryobi and others have similar.

It replaced a terrible Qualcast one, actually the second as the first had the batteries die within weeks.

I got a Worx one with 2 batteries for the allotment. Very happy with it so far - much better than the Bosch it replaced.

RYOBI ONE+ OLT1832 18V CORDLESS GRASS TRIMMER

I like the one battery fits the whole range of tools idea.

Other cordless tools are either older or cheap unfortunately. Onewheelgood, good to hear about the worx one, is looked at it with the notion of buying the pressure washer at a later date.

One set of reviews on Amazon were dubious but further digging suggests it is better than expected.

Dewalt dcm561 is the answer - pretty decent and a lot more impressive than my Bosch cordless lawn mower which isn't brilliantly torqey.

i use the Clas Ohlson LXC range of stuff. Very good, and five year guarantee means I can generally break them and take them back.

Got hedge trimmers (a long one and a normal one), lights (x2), a drill, and a strimmer

Just need to get the hammer drill now.

I've just used my "free" Worx one to strim the grass; I bought it because I wanted the battery and charger that would work with my drill, hydroshot etc and it was cheaper than just buying a battery on its own, so good value even though I planned never to use it. But I gave it a try and it was fine; it's now done over a year of strimming and my petrol strimmer is consigned to the back of the shed.

interestingly that dewalt stuff appears to have the same batteries as the Clas Ohlson ones. I always thought they're just rebranded stuff...think i know where from now

Ahh strimmer, there's a word I've not heard in a while!!! Over here they call them "whipper snippers"!

just resurrecting this before it gets closed.....im looking into one at present.

it wont get much hammer, not too much to do so am i right in thinking any battery strimmer would do the job, its just how good/replaceable the battery is?

any recent recommendations?

thanks

I picked one up in Aldi, was buying a wee battery chainsaw for stealth trail clearing duties so already had 2 batteries, bare strimmer was 20 quid, rude not to. It's actually quite decent, surprisingly.

I got a Dewalt DCM561 for £80 last year (already have the batteries with other tools)
Its very good, easily does my garden on a single charge (25 minutes of use)

The new Stihl domestic cordless garden range seem good. I don’t have the strummer but do have the hedge trimmer and chainsaw and they use the same battery. When my current strummer dies I will replace it with the Stihl cordless one. Just b aware Stihl do a pro range and a domestic range and the batteries ( for some reason) aren’t compatible.
