I had a device added to my golf that went in the spare audio on back of the head unit which is used for an optional 6 disc changer. Probably similar to the link you have in the OP. It depends if your head unit can read MP3's, most can now. Otherwise you'll need a new head unit.

Anyway for the price of the adaptor and the price of fitting it was worth getting someone to do it, saves breaking clips off interia trim but it depends how handy you are.

I had my iphone plug come out in the small bin on top of the dash, all good, charges the phone etc. but can get hot in the summer on a long journey.

I bought a new sony head unit for less than £100 which does iPhone, bluetooth etc
Punt the old unit on eBay and the costs are similar, but you have a much neater system.

You should find something to go with your unit, most will have an aux in or cd changer port that one or those will use. Most likely a cd changer port. Whip it out and look at the back of it.

If not you'll have to use an fm modulator (not transmitter, they're rubbish.) connects2 do decent ones. Look at denon also. Had a quick look and it suggests all Nissan radios can cope with a proper connection like the one you've posted in your link, it's fairly easy to install the only tricky bit tends to be finding a switched live on modern cars to power it.

I have a connects2 iPod interface fm modulator sat in a box at home if you're interested.

The adapters are ok to a point but not all have the same controls
Went with the Parrot because it's so easy to use.
10mins to install, ignition on and streaming music, internet radio, hands free, etc.
Simple

A new stereo isn't an option as it's all built in . I took the unit out yesterday and there doesn't appear to be aplug for multi changer. Fm modulator and parrot will have a look later

Also look at the Dension stuff. I had an IceLink one and it worked perfectly (although this was a few years ago now so don't know that the current ones are like).

I know it's an Fm transmitter, but I've found the Griffin iTrip to be really good.

I've had mine for ages now and it works great.

Judging by the pics of the one you're looking out - it seems they are breakout cables, i.e. you unplug the multiplug on the stereo, and then the new wiring loom will have the same male and female ends that go between that and the stereo, passing the car's feed into it along with the input feed.

I've used a Dension Gateway on our old Golf and XC90 and they're very good - not cheap but work really well.
The one for the Golf (and prob most other cars also) uses a short loom, that they supply, that goes in between the car loom and the head unit. Once you've got the head unit out its easy to fit.

I've used an IO Play bluetooth unit for years with my iPhone. Does mean fitting behind the stereo and running the handsfree mic cable to somewhere suitable, but has worked faultlessly for me.
Streams any sound out of your iPhone.

You will also need a cable that fits between the output of the stereo and the speakers/power.
